Another Double Digit Weekend
Anyone think that the weather kept people inside?
- At least four were killed and 17 others wounded in shootings across Chicago over the weekend.
Two people were wounded Friday night between 5 p.m. and midnight. Eight people were shot Saturday — two of them fatally. Sunday ended with two dead and eight wounded. One person, a 26 year old woman, was wounded Monday morning before 5 a.m.
The most violent period was early Saturday, when several shootings ripped through the West Side Austin neighborhood.
Has anyone at HQ decided exactly how much OT money is spent to prevent a single shooting? Can we get some sort of breakdown? By our figuring, it's costing taxpayers about a quarter-of-a-million per shooting prevented when comparing year-by-year, which seems like a pretty poor expenditure of tax money.

What they can do with that money is use it to pay for judges that will actually sentence these violent thugs to proper jail time. It could pay for more officers to be hire and put on the streets so more detectives can be promoted. It coooould pay for updated equipment for officers to safely patrol their beats without worrying about faulty PDT’s, squad cars, radios, vests, etc.
Give the Community what it wants.

The strategy of the department is a total failure. They know where crime is happening or about to happen and they can’t come up with a strategy to stop it. Ed is clueless. All the gold stars are clueless. This place is a joke. The Mayor put a bunch of clowns in charge of things. If government wanted to truly stop this they have the resources to bear on the problem. The have allowed this cancer to grow into what it is.

Retirement can't come quick enough to leave this cesspool of vile debauchery. This city makes Gotham look friendly, but at least it has a hero of justice allowed to protect the citizens. As a child I remember actually leaving doors unlocked, playing anywhere in our neighborhood and our toys could sit on our porch untouched overnight. Today even in the best of neighborhoods gentrification methods have brought thieves and burglars to even the best of communities. I hope and pray you younger officers get a contract that destroys residency because your families should not be subject to the CB number infested city with its constant danger, failing infrastructure, poor educational standards, and political corruption as you leave your families to work every day.

Why doesn't HQ acknowledge the role weather plays----and not spend a ton of money on overtime on wet or cold weekends? Lets also see an accounting of what hours this OT is being worked----and how it correlates to the stats for crime......yeah, thought so- we are paying for daytime and inside dollies to work during the day and. in many cases, inside.

Not as good as when I was a kid but in my neighborhood you see kids bikes left out overnight, bar b q’s left out, baby buggies, etc
People sit out on porches, kids walk to the park to play
This week the original 600 Deployables (that blossomed to 1400) will return to their cubicles.
Double digits will continue, on course for another +600 Murdered Year again.

OT. to all the people that want to quit this job opening was just announced. this is not a drill. due to the gigantic problem of illegals pooping on the street in san francisco (see s.f. poop map online, yes the post a map ) san fran is hiring 6 poop patrol specialists. 184,000.00 per year! yes you read that right. starting pay is 72,000. per year with 113,000. in benefits? must be good medical or something. who says blue collar kids cant get a good paying job. now they need some exempt laedership and maybe some vanecko shit spotters and a few std rooms to spot hot jobs. im sure y'all think im funnin but im not, please google this insanity. that is all. wait didnt some one on scc about a week ago say rahm was in san fran applying for a job? hey............
