McCarthy Panders

  • Mayoral candidate Garry McCarthy showed up Tuesday at a jam-packed Daley Center courtroom to demonstrate his support for former city employees fighting to restore the 55 percent retiree health care subsidy abolished by Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

If he is elected mayor, McCarthy said he is determined to find the $130 million a year needed to restore the subsidy for retirees, 10,000 of whom started working for the city prior to April 1, 1986 and, therefore, are not eligible for Medicare.

“Emotionally, it disturbs me greatly that this is the way we treat retirees. It’s not fair. You’ve heard me say we need more compassionate government. This is exactly what I’m talking about,” McCarthy said.

“Underneath my being a cop for 35 years, I’m kind of a sensitive person, which a lot of people don’t realize it. The more time I’ve spent with the retirees, the more it’s gotten to me. I wanted to know more about it and show my support for them. I don’t think this should have happened. It needs to be corrected. It’s just another fiscal challenge we’re gonna have to face.”
Remember, Chicago doesn't have a revenue problem - it has a sending problem whereby everything is spent on buying the next vote and not paying for obligations.

This goof is still part of Rham's circus.

If he was sincere & a real stand up guy he would admit Rham viewed the Van Dyke shooting video the very next day along with him!
He would then admit yes, I helped to hide the video along with all the other corrupt CPD bosses and the corrupt city counsel!

Then I would have respect for this handpick goof from NY.

STFU and GFYS McCarthy! Anybody who thinks this jackass will be a good mayor needs their heads examined. McCarthy is a narcissist who fucked up this department worse than it already was with his Comp-stat, contact cards, and closing of Det. Area's and some districts. Now the city is trying to play catch-up with promoting detectives and Sgt's which should have been maintained during his tenure. He is a legend in his own mind.

Yes, true on all accounts, but he kind of stole a vallas talking point and he does not have the broad appeal that someone like Joyce might have. He’s a carpetbagger and carried Rahm’s water for how long? He also came out and said that we don’t need more
Police...staffing is just fine. Sorry but, can’t support him. Vallas or Joyce are actually pro police, pro union who both believe we need more police on the streets.

Where to find $130 Million?

* TIF Funds....

* $20 million got spent on bike lanes

* $100 million got spent on the Subway station that connects to nothing, under State Street. Never used

* $50 million wasn't it on the stadium built for a private school?

* Million or two (who's counting?) on the "City ID" card...

* Million or two on the legal aid services for the illegal aliens

* $50 million PER YEAR pissed away for the individual slush funds controlled by the 50 Alderthieves...

And that's just some of what I thought of before my first cup of coffee...

Yes we have a spending problem and it's caused by whom else but the Democrats pandering for votes, they could care less about us. You will never see that subsidy return as long as this City is completely controlled by them. Just look at the smear job they are doing on Judge Brett Kavanaugh. Even our own Turbin Durbin had a hand in it bullying the judge and tried to embarrass him. These Democrat politicians are worse than the criminals that law enforcement deals with. If McCarthy wants to gain the trust and confidence of the citizens and police he needs to reject the Democrat allegiance and come clean about the workings of the party. When you had a job like he had he was privy to the secrets. Start spilling the beans!

I read these posts and it just makes me laugh . People on here complaine about GM or even the Supe now about how they "sold out" or ruined the department . Wake the fuck up people, all the damage has been done by our mayor Mr. 9.5. Mr. 9.5 pulls the strings and these guys follow the rules . The only difference is that they are the mouth pieces and on the Tv doing it . Don't think for one second the mayor does not tell them what to say. Do you really think that EJ is going to risk his 150K +++ a year pension for disobeying HIS & OUR BOSS ??? I would have to say no , not a single person on this job would . It's common sense , family first . As the saying goes " you can't fight city hall" the most important thing about this election is that we THE POLICE get out there and vote ! Get our wife and kids if old enough to vote . If we back one candidate and stick together with our fellow city workers such as fire & streets & San ... we swing elections and elect OUR mayor . Think about that for a second , let's say there are 10,000 of CPD and 1/2 are married and 1/2 of the married police officers have voting age children and we endorse one candidate , that's 17,500 votes for one candidate . This right here wins elections . This theory does not even consider retireries with spouses and adult children , add another 17,500 easy . 35,000 votes alone win elections and swing it in our direction . WE MUST STICK TOGETHER. Anyway enough from me , God Bless JVD & his family and be safe officers , we are all we have out there!!!

The endorsement or lack thereof, of Merit Sgt. Kessem, formerly Aztlan, is a key point to consider. The FOP has consistently backed politicians who have done little for us. I can still remember, FOP endorsing Lisa Madigan the first time she ran, and being told to vote for her and her dad would get us an 80% pension. The FOP and coppers and their families are taken for granted by politicians and expected to support Democrat Machine candidates. We have done it too long and gotten little in return. We are tied to living in the "Shitty", and for that reason alone we should be stronger. IT WOULD BE A MISTAKE FOR THE FOP TO NOT ENDORSE KESSEM FOR STATE REP IN THE 19TH DISTRICT. IF NOTHING ELSE, SHE IS A COP AND UNDERSTANDS WHAT WE LIVE. Stay Strong. Baby "G"

Pandering too late. McCarthy is part of the problem. He assisted in hiding the video so that Rahm could be re-elected. Until he comes clean and says he was ordered to by his boss (Rahm), then ordered a dozen or so current and former top brass to go along with it, I will not even listen to his nonsense.

After he admits to conspiring with Rahm, I would ask him what has changed in the last 7 years that would make him think that now we need more POs, Dets, Dists, and areas? In the past he said we had enough. Do we need to replay his speech at St. Sabina where he also pandered to the pretend father?

He pandered to the right crowd yesterday but what’s on the where’s mines agenda Sunday?
He gonna take away my jungle gym, screwrool supplies and back packs, close up mental health facilities and deplete all the resources in the community. Women are going to die, babies are going hongry and start shooting at one another just to eat.

Vallas came out and said he will drop any and all the Elon Muskrat Tunnel process (a $10 billion dollar savings, thank you very much).
Rahm has 3 months to sign a commitment to this, don’t be surprised if the of the 48 Alderthieves agree.
Also, seen JagBag JB Prickzter (pension taxer) was out yesterday with a small gaggle of hen, he holding up a “I Believe” (Dr Blasey-Ford) sign.

- Gmac and Vallas have been getting a lot of good talking points and issues out.
- Yet to hear what Chico exactly will do...for the taxpayers.
- Remaining twits are big spending idiots promoting restorative justice and freeloader gimmydats.
-ShortShanks 3.0 loaned his campaign $500 k and is awaiting for midterms in Nov to get further orders from Nobel Prize winner obamagarrett worldwide inInternational, DC Inc. ($300 mil commitment already approved for a book Chicago, non-revenue producing boondoggle book repository).

Can’t wait to see how the lib channel 11 WTTW Phil Ponce Debates will be structured.
Likely broken up to include at least 2-3 bigmouth fringe idiot candidates to one old white man.

The money is there, spent quietly on freeloader healthcare, but lookie there NW spiders, notice all water and sewer crisis averted (until they rear it up again) with improvement spending?

These are two separate things and covered by two separate laws. Congress would have to change the social security law ( Windfall Provision Act) for everyone and that is something that will never happen. Social security is in the hole as we speak and they are not going to increase benefits for anyone. Health care for employees or retirees is up to the city council and pension is covered by state law. If JB gets into office you will see negative things happen to our pension and taxes. The dems want to tax pensions in this state and they want to change the state constitution to do this.

=============
Pensions are not being cut at all.

The health care issue is something else. It was never intended or envisioned that the vast majority of government employees would be able to retire so early. If they worked till their mid 60s like most of us have to, the health insurance issue for government retirees would be much less of a problem.

Somehow those gold plated benefit packages have to be paid for and when you are talking about health insurance for retirees, the cost to the employer can be in the $10-30k/year range, and is not going down. Add $10-30k a year to the cost of every retiree that was never anticipated for 10 or 15 extra years, and you can see why it is a major issue these days.

Government employers and government employee unions have known for 50 years or more that the benefits offered to government employees are unsustainable. Rather than deal with it when it was a relatively minor issue, they decided en mass to put off dealing with it. Why do you think that were so many state constitutions that had a pension guarantee added to the state constitution way back when? That was about all anyone was willing to do. They knew when they put those provisions in state constitutions that it was not sustainable and their only response was to make it all but unfixable short of a complete collapse like what happened in Detroit.
