I’m guessing the judge will give the jury a 4 day Columbus Day weekend and closing statements will be Tuesday. Heard witnesses will be on the stand Wednesday possibly Thursday. Doubt the judge will have the jury ready to deliberate during the holiday weekend. I’m sure he’s also fully aware of the Chicago Marathon where resources are stretched very thin. It’s seems like the brass are more relaxed, so maybe they’re aware of the possible time line. Just a guess. Doesn’t seem like this judge does much on Fridays.
SCC, you bring up good points but, of course, top brass is clueless. There are PPO's that are acting like they are going to war and are frightened. I've been doing this job for more than 20yrs and don't look forward to the OT but I do look forward to the challenge!

You are one uninformed person. Win or lose, protestors from near and far are going to take advantage of the event. Riots will take place here just because the oppotunity will have presented itself. Outside agitators will be here to cause chaos just as they were in Ferguson.

The biggest question is will JVD take the stand? I have watched the entire trial on CLTV. My view is even stronger that JVD actions were not only justified and legal but required. I know a jury trial was a big decision and if you are going for hung then I personally believe that there is not enough evidence to unanimously convict beyond a reasonable doubt. That being said all 12 will have to agree. I dont know if JVD taking the stand will help the outcome, but think that full Not Guilty may only be possible if the jury hears from his mouth that he was fearful for his and others life as well as stopping a felony offender from escaping arrest. This is a decision that is made by JVD at the advice of attorney. The burden of proof is on the State and they have not proven their case. A defendant does not have to testify, but in todays age it may be the only path to Not Guilty. A hung jury will only put Kimm Foxx in the drivers seat and you know she is not stopping until she gets her pound of flesh.
Cant see the jury will coming back with a quick verdict?

Ferguson was a tinderbox waiting for any excuse to explode. It didn't really matter much if the guy the cop killed deserved it or not. You should read the DOJ report on Ferguson some time. It is a real eye opener. It is amazing to me the riots didn't start a lot sooner. People are a lot more tolerant (or lazy maybe) than you might think. Under the "Hybrid" model, the Pension Fund sets up two departments: the traditional pension model and the new one with no employer liability.
To switch to the department with no future withdrawal liability, a company has to pay off all its current withdrawal liability, either in a lump sum or on a payment plan.
For example, over 10,000 UPS Teamsters in New England were switched into the new plan in September 2012. UPS had to pay off its withdrawal liability. But the Fund allowed them to stretch their payments out over 50 years.
The move saved UPS money, because as part of the deal the company's contribution rate was reduced to $6.20 per hour and will be frozen at that rate for 10 years. If UPS had stayed in the old pension plan, its contributions would be about $11.56 per hour presently.
The switch could affect future accruals and benefits, because under this new "hybrid" plan, each year the fund will evaluate the withdrawal liability and adjust pension accruals to keep the employer's withdrawal liability at zero.

Pay Attention to Your Pension
The Hybrid plan model is gaining momentum. Members need to understand it and keep their eyes open. The Central States Pension Fund has also adopted this model.
Some pension trustees say this new model is win-win-win, for the employers, the members, and the fund itself.
That remains to be seen. In the short term, the new model should help stabilize underfunded Teamster plans.
Over the long term, zeroing out withdrawal liability every year will tend to keep pension benefit levels from increasing, unless the union bargains increased employer contributions.
The Hybrid Plan may help convince some employers who want to eliminate withdrawal liability from trying to break out of Teamster plans, but it won't change the fact that corporations will always prefer cheap 401(k)s to good union pensions.

Won’t happen Monday, but towards the end of the week at the earliest. Monday defense has additional witnesses, earliest for final arguments would be tuesday. Wednesday jury instructions and then give it to the jury. Earliest the verdict could be is Thursday but I don’t see a quick verdict. Longer if it’s a hung jury. Gaughan will send them back to continue deliberating

I got word from a cps teacher that one of their students was going to be participating in rioting in Van Dyke's neighborhood. This student showed the cps teacher a post on FB that said "get your guns ready, we're going to fuck up his neighborhood." I don't have fb so I'm not 100% sure about this. However, Van Dyke's priest from st. Jane has recieved death threats and St. Dan's is stepping up security measures. Anyone else hear anything?
I saw the black helicopters but thought I was still drunk. Good to know that they were really there.

And that surprises you. I’ve been saying that all along. It’s a year away. Don’t see anything happening for two reasons. Consent decree has to be approved and implemented and Rahm isn’t approving anything. Will leave that problem to the new administration which takes office next spring. It will be like starting over. Rahm s and the new mayors contract ideas won’t be the same. Be happy with all the OT because you won’t be seeing a raise or retro for quite a while

Don't you think that depends on the verdict? For some this will just be an excuse to loot, burn, and try for another ghetto lottery pay off. The more militant segments will be pushing their agenda, whining about only one black juror and mobilizing numbers from near and far to get the attention of the national media. Others might be seeking revenge. With the cast of clowns likely to be involved it certainly has the potential to be a clusterfuck. Perhaps there will be more than one group "doing their thang". Th exempts and Captains are getting radios with encrypted channels that can communicate with the feds. Currently they have separate radios that are encrypted, and would need to carry 2 radios in the situation we have possibly coming up.

Uh yeah, so listen here Elliot Ness; it was not a bank robbery. They robbed the armored car guys who were filling an exterior ATM machine. That is not a federally insured location so there are no federal charges involved.
I'm also a PPO in the academia of Chicago police. I too have not received equipment for the riots such as the ifak that my homeroom instructor said we are getting. Does anyone know if we can wear black gym shoes during the riots or do they have to be the shiny ones?

I got word from a cps teacher that one of their students was going to be participating in rioting in Van Dyke's neighborhood. This student showed the cps teacher a post on FB that said "get your guns ready, we're going to fuck up his neighborhood." I don't have fb so I'm not 100% sure about this. However, Van Dyke's priest from st. Jane has recieved death threats and St. Dan's is stepping up security measures. Anyone else hear anything?

On the subject of marathon. It sucks. You will be on your feet all day long. You will have a chickenshit sergeant driving back and forth on his posts making sure you are standing and he is sitting. They may offer you a shit sandwich in a box so bring your own lunch if you don't listen and show up. If you don't have your own commander or it working it so they can hook you up in the first 5-10 mile posts, you will be there for 12hrs. The best is in the morning if you don't show up with your stupid ugly useless green vest, you'll get sparred with a smile. The money may be grand but the marathon sucks royal

kenosha county right over the border on I 94 is a huge speed trap for illinois drivers. easy to spot, speed limit is 70 and fools from illinois are going 95 weaving in and out. they will write officers and anyone else and if youve had a few youre in trouble. i go to wisconsin several times a month, its for pleasure and i drive the speed limit and never have a problem. with all the damn deer on the roads you dont want to speed anyway.

I would always extend professional courtesy to another officer but I hate to say that it irks me that family members of officers think they have to right not to abide by the law. The whole idea that I can talk on the cell phone because my brother is the police is absurd. Instead of expecting to get beaks the officerin the family should educate the family members on how to drive legally and not to expect breaks.
