- A man tried to sexually assault a woman late Friday on the lakefront bike trail by the South Loop, but she escaped after a bicyclist scared him away, Chicago police said.
About 11:20 p.m., the 27-year-old woman was attacked while walking south on the bike path in the 700 block of South Lake Shore Drive, according to a community alert issued by police.
A man attempted to sexually assault the woman, who struggled and tried to pepper-spray him. A passing bicyclist then “startled” the man, and he ran away, police said.
And then the Tribune does something remarkable:
- The alert described the suspect as a black man with a medium complexion, who was thin but with an athletic build. Police said he did not have any facial hair, was between 28 and 30 years old, standing between 5-foot-10 and 6 foot tall. Police didn’t provide a detailed clothing description, but noted he wore a black jacket and black pants.
Now we know and you know that Community Alerts ALWAYS have this information on it. The media chooses not to report it though - delicate sensibilities or some bullshit.
But something must be different with this case. A reader speculated that someone in the media or related to someone in the media must have been the victim for the Tribune to swerve this far out of their comfort zone.

NBC Channel 5 news said the description was ‘vague’ but the suspect was about 30 years old. Call 911 if you spot any male about 30 years old. The public should know by now, if the skin color is black, the skin color is now ‘vague.’ Vague Panther, VagueHawks, Vague Licorie, Vague out, Vague & Blue...
Don't know if anyone else has noticed about a lot of these articles published in the Tribune. Back in the day, there used to be an outfit called City News Bureau. It was where daily newspapers would get local news stories not covered by their in house reporters. Well it goes without saying that the term "reporter" has little resemblance to what it once meant. Anyway, the Tribune has some employees, lets call them writers, because they really don't report straight news, instead they create flowery prose to what used to be straight news story. A recent story about a shooting contained versus like "a neighbor across the street watched police string barricade tape as she tended to her garden" or "meanwhile children played in a playlot seemingly unaware of the dangerous scene around them"....all this bullshit that has absolutely nothing to do with the incident they're supposed to be covering. Its like a directive when out for interpretive, creative writing. What seems to be happening is that so called "journalists" have now opted to become media personalities, foregoing the responsibilities of the fourth estate in order to market their "talents" to other media outlets. And in doing so, newspapers are dying. If that's the case, hurry up, let em die.

If I make the mistake of being in the city after 11pm and have to walk somewhere, I walk with my hand on my gun. Once or twice I had to walk from a restaurant to my hotel after midnight. When that happened, I had my gun in my hand. Too many folks from 'da community walking around looking to cause trouble.
I googled the Chgo Sun Times and Wikipedia says that their political alignment is “liberal.” Now we know.
Perhaps with Rahm leaving, the grip on the media is loosening?

Chicago news station were salivating because they were able to announce that the suspect in a St. Charles hit-and-run was a 'White male, White male!'
Suburbanite must have better eyesight in identifying criminals. The driver that hit a 7 year old girl riding her bike was immediately classified as having a ponytail and tan pants. He was also a White Male! Had this child been hit in Chicago, chances are it would only be reported as 'the suspect ditched his car and ran in the woods. Police only have a vague description...'

And then Fox 32 reports another hit and run and describes the suspect as "white man", but then this sexual assault report they reprot, "Police say the suspect is a male".
Too severe assault to hide. Otherwise, sane okd. Except we all know when media doesn’t provide info, it’s usually a community member just funnin or an illegal.
Hey, that's the second time today that I've read that the Tribune actually reported the facts. Have they started practicing journalism once again? If they keep it up, they'll bury the Sun Times. Not going to hold my breath that this becomes a normal practice but there may be hope yet.
There is something different in this case - the crime is sexual assault and the victim is a woman. In the liberal food chain, feminism trumps racial justice.
Well if they are not going to report the race then what is the logical argument in reporting the gender? How about the species, should they be reporting the species?
As a man, I continually get dirty looks. "Hey, man, I'm not the rapist."
if the victim had been a "deplorable," the perpetrator's description would not have been given.
Law enforcement's suggestion of walking in pairs after nightfall is no longer good enough.
Concealed carry must be allows in the parks!
Even a (willfully) blind reporter finds a story now and again.

Either the person was related to somebody at the Tribune or is it possible that Tribune is finally actually going to do real reporting, And stop reporting all the dishonest fake news that they have been doing for the past few years? Many of us will wait and see if they finally report what actually happens to help the citizens protect them selves from the animals that are roaming the streets!

Would be nice to know the victims name to trace lineage to see if we could figure out media connection! If nothing the Tribune is finally covering reporting like they should and not being influenced by the fake liars and dishonest media time will tell!
