Better than a Soap Opera
- Bail was denied Sunday for a woman who unwittingly hired an undercover Chicago cop to execute another woman she thought was romantically involved with her ex-girlfriend — another officer who was assigned to Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s security detail.
Lissette Ortiz, 54, of Jefferson Park, was arrested Friday evening in the 4700 block of North Central Avenue and charged with a felony count of solicitation of murder for hire, according to Chicago police.
The investigation was set off Monday when Ortiz offered to hire a man to kidnap the 62-year-old woman, according to Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney Jack Costello. Ortiz’s public defender Courtney Smallwood later said he was a handyman who worked in her building.
Ortiz believed the woman she was targeting had started dating her ex-girlfriend, veteran CPD Officer Marni Washington, according to Costello and a police source. Ortiz’s relationship with Washington had fizzled out by this summer, when Washington was acquitted of misdemeanor domestic battery after Ortiz accused her of abuse.
Seems like a lot of unnecessary drama, but then, Groot loves drama.

Nope scc is not holding anything back, marnie made story here couple months ago when she got locked up for a domestic and then magically cleared of all charges and probably never been in call back and now back being security specialist
Why isn’t poor Ms. Ortiz being released on an affordable bond? The poor lady has kids she needs to be home with and work to support them. This is outrageous and the judge is racial profiling against a Hispanic female who also happens to be gay. That’s a triple case of prejudice.

SCC you must hear this. The lesser of Johnson’s problems is his DUI. Supposedly the real investigation by the IG is on his close relationship with Chicago Uniform Company on Roosevelt and now his 01JAN20 retirement date is in jeopardy. Rumor is the other uniform stores contacted the IG when Johnson received freebies from C.U.C. There concern is Johnson approved uniform items that C.U.C. had pre-made and stockpiled such as pink flag patches and an exempt raincoat and a rainbow hat for the Pride parade. Johnson approved the items without the required pre-notification to the stores which means no other store had time to make them before breast cancer awareness or the pride parade, giving C.U.C. a complete monopoly. If this all started with a free very expensive raincoat which Johnson then required all exempts to purchase this is turning into something way bigger than his drinking problem. Id like to see all the receipts from everything he got from C.U.C. for himself or his relatives. I think the IG does too.

OT: ANother Cook Co. criminal justice system success: Re: the rape and murder of the UIC student.
Today at 4:45 p.m., Donald D. Thurman, 26, was formally charged with first-degree murder and aggravated sexual assault for the killing of UIC student Ruth George. The medical examiner ruled Ms. George’s death a homicide by strangulation.
Thurman will be processed and transported from the UIC Police station, where he has been held since his arrest on Sunday, to the Chicago Police Department lock-up facility.
His most recent address was near the UIC campus. He has no affiliation with the University or the victim.
The offender has a criminal record and was released from prison in December 2018 for armed robbery. He was sentenced to 6 years, but only served two and is currently on parole.

AFAIK in this case at least the suspect didn't directly contact the police, the suspect contacted Joe The Plumber or some shit who worked in her apartment building. Apparently the handymen in Ms. Ortiz's world usually moonlight as elite assassins. Anyway, maintenance guy then contacted the police, they set up the 'I know a guy who can help you' sting, and the game was afoot.
No shame in missing that detail though, because it took me a couple of reads through the story to actually understand what the hell was going on. Total soap opera.

IAD was aware of their relationship. Going and getting CR #’s because PO didn’t care after dropping you worked for the mayor. Now it comes out PO was living with a convicted felon. Reports state same home address. PO should sue for sure.
