Baby Shot
Someone said this was CHA property, and guns are banned on CHA property. So this is (once again) an impossibility:
- A 1-year-old boy was shot in the head Monday in Uptown while his parents tussled over a gun inside their home and it went off — not by a stray bullet, as his father claimed, Chicago police say.
Detectives determined the parents were struggling over a gun inside their home when it discharged and a bullet ricocheted and struck the 23-month-old boy, police spokesman [Google-me] said in an interview Tuesday morning.
“The bullet didn’t penetrate the skull,” [Google-me] said. “He’ll be fine.”
As Google-me is neither a doctor or a sociologist, we're going to take issue with his diagnosis of "He'll be fine." After all, we're reading about his parents in the Sun Times. He's very very far from "fine."

That’s Dr. Google-me to you. He stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
Something to think about. Just read an article about the chase in Cleveland that killed a 13 year old girl. The Chief said, "I haven’t heard one person say that a young, 15-year-old boy should not have put a gun in that lady’s face. Who’s responsible for that!? Who’s responsible for that!?” said Williams to the howls of those who would rather not address question of responsibility. Police say the armed pair perpetuated the violent carjacking that ended in Tamia’s death. "That’s the root of the problem. Yet, few in the community bother to focus on the true perpetrators of the crime". Oh and they are being charged with murder but in juvenile court! Of course the family of the victim will sue the city and perhaps the officer too and win.
And at a vigil for the girl who died, a crowd carried signs and chanted, “Save our children. Stop the chase.” You see who they blame and who they never blame. Give them what they want. Anyone that chases or does anything proactive is completely out of their mind.

What was his fathers criminal history like, why did he have a gun in public housing, why are we paying for his housing if he a previous reported criminal, gibbs me dat and you pay for it, you know what would help, more public housing.
2 weeks ago when the 2 kids got shot at the barber shop I was a little upset, then I saw their picture representing their gang. Now nothing, I don't care, nothing to see here.

Maybe yes, maybe no. It could all depend if he embraces his new nickname: 'Lead-Head'.
btw, I've got the feeling that one of these stellar parents will ask if they can keep the Bullet so they can have a Keepsake Necklace made out of it. And as the kid gets older on each anniversary one or both will tell the kid: See this Jr, this is the bullet we almost killed you with.

Uh, I'm a little concerned for the welfare of a kid who's parents are trying to wrestle for control of a firearm. Doesn't sound like a healthy home environment.

Hey, at least the baby's parents stayed together long enough to have a fight over a gun and shoot him in the head. Most daddies are up and gone when the woman misses her first period.
I don't pay for the Tribune, but Dahleen had a headline explaining we need better gun control because this kid got shot in the head. How many crimes on the books were broken for this to happen? No FOID, an undocumented transfer, firearm in CHA, domestic violence of some sort, etc. Maybe just outlaw stupid and cut this stuff off at the knees.
Looks like Mr. Google-Me needs some sensitivity training...

You sir, are correct. What if it was that simple; just stop paying their rent. Let the scumbag slum landlord give them the heave ho. Watch it all end in a month.
I really hope and pray he is able to go to a new family and never see these awful parents again. I feel so bad for children that are born into this.
