Big Ol Brass Ones

Imagine heading to the hospital after being shot, and you see the getaway truck of the guy who just shot you:
  • A Chicago police sergeant was wounded in the wrist as he tailed a white pickup truck suspected in a fatal shooting, then was picked up by other officers and continued the pursuit, pulling a gun on the suspect after he was stopped near Stroger Hospital, according to authorities.

The 36-year-old South Side suspect was arrested, and a gun was confiscated, police said. The officer was taken to Stroger, across the Eisenhower Expressway, and was listed as stable.

[...] The sergeant pursued the suspect’s truck about a block south to Wilcox Street, where the suspect fired twice and hit the sergeant in the wrist, police said.

Harrison District tactical officers in the area met up with the sergeant and started driving him east toward Stroger, police said. “We have the officer in our car, we’re driving him to Stroger right now,” an officer radioed. “He’s got a gunshot wound to his left forearm.”

On the way, the sergeant spotted the suspect and the tactical team started chasing the truck. “While en route to the hospital, the officer and the transporting unit observed the offender in the pickup truck," Chicago police Interim Superintendent Charlie Beck said at the hospital. The driver asked the sergeant, “Did he still want to go directly to the hospital or should they apprehend the offender. He elected they should apprehend the offender.”
Well done. Seriously.

Nabbing the shitbird was the best medicine. The Sgt was still running on adrenaline and wasn't bothered too much by the pain. May he recover completely [and leisurely]. Thank you Sarge, for watching out for the rest of us.

hey SCC... whats up with the Street Deputy ordering an ET to take photographs of all CPD on scene once they were in the area? It was rumored that it was in case there was a complaint of police wrongdoing that they would be able to show the complainant photos of cops on scene? Where is the FOP on all this?

Sarge has always been tough as nails.
And as nice of a guy as they come. Quiet and professional. Knows his shit.
The kind of guy people like working for.

Nice job by all involved in a chaotic and very strange sequence of events!
Everyone involved today exemplifies what we know to be true- that Chicago Police are some of the finest in the country, and when the chips are down, we can get shit done.

Thankfully someone was watching out and all of Team Blue will live to carry on.
Heal up well sarge, and I hope everyone involved holds their heads high. You’ve made all of us proud.

"Big Ol' Brass Ones"

Hella big and brassy

Like Russian Church Bells...

It's character like this that THEY
desire to see beaten out of CPD.

Too manly.
Too combative.
Too aggressive.
Too warrior-like.

Hearkens too much to the muscle-memory
of too tough, too strong Policemen of yore
that makes white-guilt liberals and "community members"
tremble in fear and concern.

"We thought 'Reform' was supposed to take care of that."

Bravo, job well done, God Bless and well wishes
to the Sergeant.

Did Groot take time out from his/her/it's
fiesta of hatred to give even a grudging
nod of acknowledgement?

Or no?

Seeing as how genuine gratitude and appreciation
do seem to be so far beyond her/him/it.

Ungraciousness walks 5 paces in front
and casts an oversized shadow over everything
that Groot says/does.

At the press conference, Beck said he was the Superintendent. Groot and the ER doctor called Beck the Superintendent. Was it just easier to say than adding the word, interim? Or, is something afoot? Hmmm?

Bad guy finished shooting and he’s checking on us ensuring we were all safe. After taking down the shooter and cuffing him the MFer took a cigar break. Thanks to you good sergeants. Hope you have a fast and blessed recovery and the wrist is as good as new.

They pulled two RD numbers and two separate events for this. Narcotics Section Commander heard on the air during all the havoc. With Beck refusing to say what agencies are involved in the undercover operation, and the fact that general enforcement units were heard on the air with other civilian dress specialty units, we can safely say this is a drug & gun operation targeting a certain gang faction
