Big Ol Brass Ones
Imagine heading to the hospital after being shot, and you see the getaway truck of the guy who just shot you:
- A Chicago police sergeant was wounded in the wrist as he tailed a white pickup truck suspected in a fatal shooting, then was picked up by other officers and continued the pursuit, pulling a gun on the suspect after he was stopped near Stroger Hospital, according to authorities.
The 36-year-old South Side suspect was arrested, and a gun was confiscated, police said. The officer was taken to Stroger, across the Eisenhower Expressway, and was listed as stable.
[...] The sergeant pursued the suspect’s truck about a block south to Wilcox Street, where the suspect fired twice and hit the sergeant in the wrist, police said.
Harrison District tactical officers in the area met up with the sergeant and started driving him east toward Stroger, police said. “We have the officer in our car, we’re driving him to Stroger right now,” an officer radioed. “He’s got a gunshot wound to his left forearm.”
On the way, the sergeant spotted the suspect and the tactical team started chasing the truck. “While en route to the hospital, the officer and the transporting unit observed the offender in the pickup truck," Chicago police Interim Superintendent Charlie Beck said at the hospital. The driver asked the sergeant, “Did he still want to go directly to the hospital or should they apprehend the offender. He elected they should apprehend the offender.”
Well done. Seriously.

If I spotted the guy who shot me I would pursue too! Well that's what I say now but the sgt actually did it! Fantastic job sir! Just awesome
Nabbing the shitbird was the best medicine. The Sgt was still running on adrenaline and wasn't bothered too much by the pain. May he recover completely [and leisurely]. Thank you Sarge, for watching out for the rest of us.
hey SCC... whats up with the Street Deputy ordering an ET to take photographs of all CPD on scene once they were in the area? It was rumored that it was in case there was a complaint of police wrongdoing that they would be able to show the complainant photos of cops on scene? Where is the FOP on all this?
Sarge has always been tough as nails.
And as nice of a guy as they come. Quiet and professional. Knows his shit.
The kind of guy people like working for.
Nice job by all involved in a chaotic and very strange sequence of events!
Everyone involved today exemplifies what we know to be true- that Chicago Police are some of the finest in the country, and when the chips are down, we can get shit done.
Thankfully someone was watching out and all of Team Blue will live to carry on.
Heal up well sarge, and I hope everyone involved holds their heads high. You’ve made all of us proud.
Outstanding work Warrior!!! You make all of us at CPD proud! Well done Sir
"Big Ol' Brass Ones"
Hella big and brassy
Like Russian Church Bells...
It's character like this that THEY
desire to see beaten out of CPD.
Too manly.
Too combative.
Too aggressive.
Too warrior-like.
Hearkens too much to the muscle-memory
of too tough, too strong Policemen of yore
that makes white-guilt liberals and "community members"
tremble in fear and concern.
"We thought 'Reform' was supposed to take care of that."
Bravo, job well done, God Bless and well wishes
to the Sergeant.
Did Groot take time out from his/her/it's
fiesta of hatred to give even a grudging
nod of acknowledgement?
Or no?
Seeing as how genuine gratitude and appreciation
do seem to be so far beyond her/him/it.
Ungraciousness walks 5 paces in front
and casts an oversized shadow over everything
that Groot says/does.
At the press conference, Beck said he was the Superintendent. Groot and the ER doctor called Beck the Superintendent. Was it just easier to say than adding the word, interim? Or, is something afoot? Hmmm?

Sergeant: "GET THAT M##### F#####!!!!!!!!!!
Balls of steel.
A Lambert Tree award nominee. for sure!!!
That's a fuckin man I'd be honored to work for. I hope this Sgt is put on the fast track to becoming a Lt.
Get healthy and take care of yourself Sgt!
Well done! Now heal up.
He's a bad bad man and a great copper and great friend
Great work by all involved. Prayers for a speedy recovery for the sergeant.
Good job Officer and mucho respect to a Real Police Officer.
May god and st Michael the protector of the sheepdogs and police wolves hover over you and watch over and heal your gunshot back to normal health where you may once again patrol the streets of this we call earth but hell on earth. May you be protected by st Michael by his shield and sword who will rain down on this devil offender and may you never stop this fight that we police cops fight everyday on the battlegrounds of angels and devils oh god we pray in the lords love for police and may the thin blue line of my brothers in blue protect your Six forever brother and sisters. Amen.
Nice job Sarge and get well quick.
A
But i thought the law prevented this guy from having a gun. Also is kimFaux gonna approve charges for the attempt murder or hopefully at least charge the asshole with agg discharge. Lets hope this is newsworthy and kFaux feels mandated to follow the law.
Nice job Sgt!! God speed recovery. Now the real test is to see what Killmesha will do with the case..offender get an I-Bond and ankle Bracelet monitoring?
My kinda Sarge.
This man deserves a promotion all the way to the top shows what it takes to be a man, get well soon brother you are a hero this Sunday many of the zeros will be honoring the thug football league wasting untold amounts of money for this shit show anti-police commercial airing, waste of time. We should be honoring heroes like Aron, we should not honor sports stars we should honor police officers like this we should honor the United States military real heroes, we should have A ceremony for doctors that help us and cure diseases those are heroes not sports stars.
Glad Sgt. came out on top. L.L., can we get that fucking contract settled now?
Lightfoote sings praises......
Well HOW ABOUT A FUKIN CONTRACT!!!
They failed to name the Sargent. His name..........Chuck Norris. In all seriousness this guy is real bad ass. Speedy recovery to you boss.
👍👍👍 to the wounded supervisor and the tac team. Hope the injury is not serious. And that the SAO actually holds and prosecutes this guy. (One can only hope here)
"Beck at the hospital"
That line almost caused a heart attack.
So he DOES read this blog!
Something's up, man.
Bad ass.
His reply was "get that motherfucker!!!"
There are some bosses with brass balls, too bad they’re only sergeants! We had one take first position in the stack on a dynamic entry was cool as a cucumber while eight shots came our way. Bad guy finished shooting and he’s checking on us ensuring we were all safe. After taking down the shooter and cuffing him the MFer took a cigar break. Thanks to you good sergeants. Hope you have a fast and blessed recovery and the wrist is as good as new.
To misquote George Costanza, "He's Batman".
Brass? His are made of solid gold! Awesome job, Sgt.!!
Doing work! Excellent job to all (watch cook co drops it though..)
First word that came to mind: hero.
Obviously not a snowflake!
Great job Boss! You the man.
I've always hated the term "real police" that CPD uses, but in this case, this sergeant is most definitely the real police. Well done.
Great job , let’s have a party for him .
This does not qualify him for a merit Lt .
Want to reward him , make him a Commander .

Yes if this was another agency. Those merit spots are for the incompetent and connected.
Something you see in the movies. Nice job and thankful you’ll be ok!
Another CPD legend is born!!!, thats why we work in Chicago, Cheers to great work and a speedy recovery!!!!
Great job sarge and balls that some don’t have anymore. A cop that always took care of business and his troops. Well done despite the extreme conditions. Old school can still get the job done.
Great Job Sgt. I hope you recover well and fast. Thank you for your service and see you at the Sergeants Association dinner next month. We need you there to tell the mutt Sergeants we have how it's done.
I would come out of retirement and gladly work for this Sarge.
Wysinger gets the lambert tree for shooting a tree...

So he knows how many people to expect to jump on the paper.
Great job your 1 of the few I could call “boss” and mean it! The exempts with The phony gold stars could take a lesson on courage, exemplifies the “real police” not the snowflakes we have today! Get well soon “Boss!”
Beck reads >HERE<
“I ain’t got time to bleed” -Blain Cooper
Job well done
Mad props, Sarge!
You are what police should be.
Get well and stay safe.
Great job! He and his brother are excellent policemen! That family sure creates heroes! JJ
Make him meritorious Supe.
Usually that stuff only happens on cop shows and in the movies.
Promote this man! A leader by example. That’s what CPD is missing!
Get well!
great work sgt speedy recovery if there is ever a case for a merit proomtion to lt its you but wont happen ret. marc buzlik side piece who never made an arrest in her entire career gets the merit bump,
great work sgt no merit promotio to you unless you are connected to eddie burke
As the Monty Python's Black Knight would say, "Tis only a flesh wound"
BREAKING: WHO Declares Coronavirus Public Health
Emergency. So far, only 2 cases, husband & wife, both
in isolation in Chicago.
Watch those hospitals!
Great job Sarge, and man oh man check out that pair on ya. We desperately need more supervisor like him, hell this is what we need at the top brass level!! Can you imagine if we had bosses like this? Thanks for making us proud again Sarge, CPD strong!
Hey I am one of those “justice liberals” some are hating here. But I deeply appreciate / admire / honor the Sgt’s bravery, and all of your service. And I can do that at the same time I hate brutality and racism on the force, and at the same time I despise the political corruption b.s. you all have to work beneath. Thank you Sargent! Respect.
It is not hard to the right thing if allowed to do so. The sergeant did his job bc that's who he is. Nice job in the assist
offender is lucky to be alive
I’m not on the FOP board but for everyone that’s posts where is the FOP on this, man up and call then if you feel you have been wronged.
A Sgt like this embodies the reason we all became cops in the first place: to catch bad guys, lock them up, and make the community safe again. Now if only the States Attorney and Courts could take a lesson from this Sgt.
When the going gets tough the tough get going. Great job Sgt. Heal fast and we'll we need you back on duty ASAP.
Bad-Ass! Simply Bad-Ass! This is what my old man said about the CPD being the finest in the land back in 70 or so. The sheer size of the dump truck needed to carry your Stones makes buildings quake and rattle.
This makes me feel good about living in Chicago again. We have not gone full pussy!
Be well sir and take that time to heal. GSW's take sometime. I do know.
C.R.
Bad ass motherfucker right there. Even a graze wound bleeds like crazy. This man, and I do mean MAN has balls of 718 Incolnel, fuck that brass shit!
Awesome job. Thank god the Sgt. didn’t shoot and kill the offender. COPA would have argued that he was incapable of making the proper decision because of his injury. Force mitigation. Get help. Back off, time and space. They would argue he created the exigent circumstances. Lightfoot would love it.
I thought you’re supposed to stay fetal. I’m surprised at the praise. Police action is so disdained here
They pulled two RD numbers and two separate events for this. Narcotics Section Commander heard on the air during all the havoc. With Beck refusing to say what agencies are involved in the undercover operation, and the fact that general enforcement units were heard on the air with other civilian dress specialty units, we can safely say this is a drug & gun operation targeting a certain gang faction
Good advertising for learning to shoot well with either hand

He's already in Gang Intel, aka he's connected. He'll be a LT next class
Lambert Tree? You got to be kidding. That’s going to a caps officer in 16.
"BOOOOONNNNNGGG!"
What one would imagine that 300+
ton Buddhist Temple bell now laying
at the bottom of the Yangon River for
400 years (courtesy of the Portuguese)
would have probably sounded like.
Well done officer, get well soon. We need you.
You now have a sergeant with command presence. Promote him and watch the stats drop in his area of responsibility.
