Arrest Less?
We don't know where this Public Defender has been the past few years, but she's obviously a bit slow on the uptake:
- The top public defender in Cook County has an idea that she thinks will help fight the COVID-19 outbreak: Stop arresting people.
Chicago police should “refrain from arresting anyone for low-level, victimless, or economic-related offenses,” Amy Campanelli said in a letter to her staff. She said she shared her idea with CPD.
“The fewer people arrested, the less chance there is of them being placed in close quarters with others where the virus can spread,” Campanelli continued. “We have a public health crisis that requires the cooperation of officers on the street.”
She didn’t define “low-level,” “victimless,” or “economic-related” crimes, but she also didn’t say how police should handle drug dealers, shoplifters, identity thieves, and other criminals who might fall under her proposed no-arrest umbrella.
That other Public Defender - Crimesha Foxxx - she's hasn't only been saying the same thing on the other side other aisle, she's been doing it, rejecting charges, altering the laws and making deals with Hollywood actors behind everyone's backs.

Beyond stupid. How do these people function daily?
Here’s a novel idea to stop the spread of Coronavirus & crime all in one, how about criminals act civilized for a month or two & self-quarantine their criminal asses.
If the young and dumb 2yr wonders would stop chasing the mutts around, we could bring the troll and alderwhores to their knees.

Any cop that’s out there going after the petty meaningless arrest is a total asshole and putting their colleagues at risk. Tact needs to be told to stand down. You could contaminate the entire station.

Stop arresting anybody unless you really have. Being proactive should be put on hold. Obviously there are still situations where arrests must be made but the rest can wait for a while. Why interact with anyone unless absolutely necessary? That includes traffic stops, search warrants, surveillance, etc. From tact to narcotics and everything in between, take this time to rest and relax because you will be replacing those on watch who must interact and will eventually get the virus and be forced to stay home.
She may be on to something here. She should let everyone know her home address and all her family's addresses so all the shitbirds know where to go to steal everything because the police shouldn't arrest anyone. Brilliant, a real trailblazer.
he might be right on this one folks. Why bother to arrest them when all that happens is they get cut lose. That way you will have fewer close interactions with the community. That sounds like a win for all but the victims, but there is no such thing as a victimless crime.

You really think some eager kids with 2 years on are doing so much quality work that they’re driving crime down in any significant way? They’re not. Crime, most importantly violent crime, is on the rise and a vast majority of the coppers do nothing. The 2yr wonders you speak of aren’t saving the city. If they stopped chasing the mutts we’d be seeing the same results.

HQ was asking around to each district to see how many County Citation books (Weed Tickets) each district had. My guess is that any arrest that doesn’t involve violence or a felony, the arrested will be issued a summons to appear in court.
How about an Arpaio style tent camp? Nice healthy fresh air, !0 ft. razor wire, Ma deuce watching the corners, economical! Turn the old Bridewell into a museun/casino, and make some money. Dart could be the host. A silver lining to this cloud.

Coppers won’t stop arresting. Why would they? We’ve never stopped before. Coppers will alway arrest filthbags infected with AIDS, Hepatitis A through Z, herpes, smelly homeless bums with wet hacking coughs with enough foot fungus to stink up an entire station, heroin addicts with puss dripping from their veins, prostitutes with drugs shoved in their boxes, etc.
If coppers never saw any potential for disease transmission from them, how is a variation of the flu going to stop arrests?
