NYPD Resignations
Whatever the numbers from Personnel end up being, every big city department is going to following the NYPD trend:
- About 50 police officers resigned from the New York Police Department (NYPD) on Friday to accept positions with the Nassau County Police Department on Long Island.
Law enforcement sources told the New York Post that most of the officers who have departed had less than five years on the police force, meaning a loss of expensively-trained young officers the department had expected to have around for a long time.
“The city spent millions of dollars training these cops hoping that they would be around for another 20-plus years,” one NYPD officer said. “That money and experience just walked out the door, putting a further drain on the city’s budget nightmare.”
The democrats have made it so undesirable to be the police, that there is just about zero chance they will keep up with retirements. Which will mean lowering qualifications to hire, rasing entry level salaries, or pretty much doing without a Department that can keep order.
If your non-police friends and family don't have a gun and a CCL, they ought to get one.....around last year would have been a good time.

Well, I guess I don't have to worry about supervising more than 10 officers any more. That is one way to meet the requirements of the consent decree. Having 10 officers to protect over 100,000 people doesn't seem like a good idea to me though.

The Cook County Sheriff makes you sign an agreement that you must pay them back for training if you leave within so many years.
However, they do not enforce it because of there incompetence.
Mayor Nadine Woodward, of Spokane, WA put out the word that her department would take lateral entries from nearby departments that were defunding (read: Seattle).
Officers have left Seattle for Spokane already.
Who knew defunding would be so expensive?

The same thing is happening on the CPD. Cops are retiring early because the dictator Lightfoot and the politicians have destroyed the job. It’s too risky with a hating mayor. I also know that there’s an unprecedented amount of cops leaving with under 7 years to lateral to other departments. Chicago is losing big on this because tax money trains them and certifies them. The department they lateral to reaps the benefits by not spending money on training and certifying. The number one reason they’re leaving is forced residency followed by being treated like garbage. Other departments don’t do that to their police officers. So how the hell is Chicago going to attract candidates? The media should FOIA this it would be a great informative story. It doesn't have as much to do with political party running the city or town where the younger officers are leaving. We see the same thing down here in the South. Younger cops get board, and our smaller police depts. don't have as much specialization, so they leave for nearby Sheriff's depts. or larger city PDs.

Finally Mayor Bill De Blasio (NYC-Democrat) tells it like it is, they message is they are going to redistribute your hard earned dollars and give it to the slugs & thugs. That is the goal of the politicians all these Democrat controlled cities, states and in the Congress. We have quickly shifted into Communism 2.0.
When the non-police family and friends start handling things, the Democrats will shit themselves, because the non-police don't have USE FOR FORCE models to follow. It's "deal with the shit happening right now, best way you know how Model." and that ain't pretty.
Even worse, it tends to descend into vigilantism pretty quick, and once that happens, guess who the next batch of criminals are that the vigilantes pursue? Corrupt politicos who caused all the chaos and mayhem with their regressive, criminal-coddling policies.

I think the first thing they teach them is how to screw on out of towner by entering tickets into the computer twice. They change 1 to an "I" and suddenly you owe double on a $130 ticket.

Not a copper here, but I support you guys 100%. There are a lot of us here, certainly not a majority of the city (Maybe 16% of us? About the same number of people who voted for Trump, which was 16% I think. maybe there’s more of us), but we are out here. I come here to SCC for my news. I don’t trust the BS anymore from the paper. If I ever do read it, it’s with a big grain of salt.
I support conceal carry. My cop friends told me years ago to get my FOID and take the 16 hour class to get my CCL. But you know what’s better than conceal carry? A moving van. That’s what I’d really like to do. Leave and move to Tennessee or Florida or anywhere else but Illinois. I’m not originally from Chicago. Long ago I developed three categories for people and how they feel about Chicago.
1. You love Chicago
2. You tolerate Chicago
3. You hate Chicago
I was never in category 1. I was always 2. I tolerated Chicago.

I have only 5 years on and I am leaving. I am picked up by a city that pays and cares about it's officers in a state that keeps criminals in jail. I know lots of guys who had 2 to 5 years on that have already left Chicago going all over the country. Chicago is screwed, the pension is screwed, and the citizens are screwed. Already the cop neighborhoods are experiencing more and more crime coming in and as a cop we can't do shit anymore and the shit heads know it. Good luck guys and gals that stay but it does not look promising to stay in Chicago.
Well, this feeling of discomfort could be avoided if training didn't involve "shoot them" being the defacto response to any sort of threat.

She is literally the most unqualified person in the history of Cook County to lead the State's Attorney's Office. She was one of the most unremarkable Assistant State's Attorneys in the office. Before she left to become Toni Preckwinkle's lap dog, no one outside of the State's Attorney's Office had ever heard of her. Few people within the State's Attorney's Office had ever heard of her. On her best day, she was mediocre. Yet, simply because of identity politics, she now is in charge of the second largest prosecutor's office in the nation. Her policies erode and destroy more segments of this city everyday. Like her newly minted colleague in Los Angeles, George Gascon, she is doing more destruction to this large urban area every day than all the criminals combined. As the late former NYC Mayor Ed Koch said, "the voters have spoken and now they will be punished."
Anyone think making being a cop undesirable is not planned? Wait until BLM and Antifa members start replacing the existing, fleeing, and retiring, current Department members in big cities. Closer to home the Chesterton Indiana Town council decided it will no longer bargain with the Fire Fighters Local Union after the Local won a Court case for overtime infractions against the Town. The Fire Chief then resigned returning to his rank of Captain. Indiana is a right to work, right to fuck over state, top pay for a PO is roughly $56,000 a year, gas only 10 cents a gallon cheaper, property taxes cheaper but thats about it. You pay for your kids books in school just like parochial school of which the only ones are Baptist and they don't like Catholics.
To the whiner about their ticket-tickets, I have family in NYPD I have been going out there for years. I will tell you up until the recent (civil) criminal unrest I have NEVER seen 4 officers in one car & NEVER EVER 4 young Officers in one car. Most Officers start on a foot patrol meaning day/night rain, snow 100 degree days EVERYDAY!! They learn the neighborhood, they learn who belongs & more importantly who doesn’t. I was sitting at a restaurant outdoors (of course in 2019) and saw a young Officer walking his foot post W/ his partner. His partner had a 5 digit shield on his chest, the younger Officer had a 3 digit shield. I asked how that could be possible & was told he is the 4th generation in his family to be NYPD & they have ALL worn this shield. That is what law enforcement is, the BEST this country has to offer. So pay your ticket & stay out if Nee York!! Next time go to Detroit & see if you come home alive
It's good to point this stuff out and continue doing so because the State-Run News won't cover it or covers it dishonestly with lies.
One caveat: all of this is by-design. They want these cities destroyed. Disintegrating the police departments, bringing in communist prosecutors that reward criminals and punish people that defend themselves against criminals, and completely corrupt, bought and paid for judges and courts where the rule of law is just "law school theory".

Yep. The ISP is so far behind processing FOID/CCL right now that charges have been brought against them in court. To the surprise of no one, their excuse is Covid. Funny how the Covid excuse is used for work that requires little more than time at a computer.
On vacation in MN I tried to enter a state gov facility. The door was locked and a Covid sign posted explaining why. Yet the employee parking lot behind the building was full because most everyone was inside working at their desks.
But it ain't happening in IL. I sincerely hope the court hands the ISP's asses to them.

Lateral transfers can only work if there isn’t forced residency. In fact, forced residency is one of the biggest reasons cops are lateraling out. A horrible hating no business sense lying unprofessional snake as mayor is a major problem too. Actually for all of Chicago
The NYPD always had a lot of their officers going to other depts.
For higher pay, less political BS, closer to home, etc, etc.
They go to FDNY, Port Authority PD, Nassau and Suffolk counties, etc.
Knew a guy who went to US State Diplomatic Security, LAPD, Georgia SP.
Granted, the NYPD has countless details, many useless, hidden or unknown.
Been going on for years, if not decades.
It's as if City Hall never did the $$ math or cared.
Our HQ is known as The Puzzle Palace.
Disliked even going there for paperwork or supplies.

I told a friend up North, talking about police Covid raids, that if a Deputy showed up at our door on Thanksgiving, he'd be given a seat at the table. Probably get a drumstick as an honored guest. The kids would love it!

I would be careful wishing for the City here to fail. I want to see this mayor fail, but I don't want to see this City become another Detroit.

In 2010 when my daughter was in the San Francisco police academy the trainees were being paid about $6,500 per month for the 8 months in the academy.
Here's where it REALLY gets STUPID. She had successfully completed everything about 3 weeks shy of graduation. The only thing left was a few written tests - no physical tests or training. She injured her wrist and they denied her graduation. They said they wanted her (lots of retirement happening) but she would have to come to the next class and START THE WHOLE 8 MONTHS FROM THE BEGINNING. She couldn't come back and do the last 3 weeks. City policy. She declined and moved back to the Midwest relatively near us. SFPD tried for a year or two to get her to come back. Her instructors loved her.

50 ct Handgun Ball Ammo can be found, if U have a gun U have min 50 rds plus 3 mags full ammo cause gun folks plan ahead. Yeager & the like offer great training. That Retired Lew left the cover of his SUV, but he did recognize the threat fast & brought fire to bear.

Retired from NYPD last summer. The NYPD and the city has been going in a downward spiral for a while. Slow and incremental. This past year, the Department and the city fell off a cliff. Between bail reform , the activist DAs actually not prosecuting anyone, and now the NYPD is completely risk averse, the City is dangerous. Robberies happening in broad daylight in traditionally safe neighborhoods. Attacks in the subways during the day. Getting a full carry gun permit is given to retired cops or you have a lot of pull. If I didn’t have a permit, I would still carry. Take care and stay safe. CPD, sign in, get each other’s backs, and go home. Let Groot start making collars.
