Don't Call 911 in Portland
The west coast just proves day in and day out how lost it is:
- Our 911 system is getting hammered this morning with a multiple person incident — multiple overdoses in northwest park blocks. Please do not call 911 except in event of life/death emergency or crime in progress (or chance of apprehending suspect). For non-emergency please use 503-823-3333.
That's Portland’s safety commissioner on social media telling people NOT to call 911 when a hot batch of inject-able/snort-able narcotics resulted in multiple overdoses.
We kind of agree that wasting already stretched First Responder resources for people who voluntarily put poison into their bodies is a bad idea. It's no secret that we aren't big fans of Narcan being distributed willy-nilly and that heroin addicts contribute far more to society when they aren't in it. We took some heat for it, but whatever. The damage a single heroin addict did to our family made us bitter.
The only situation in which we'd even consider carrying Narcan would be
for an accidental overdose of a cop or a child finding someone's stash.

Yeah, well if they hadn't banned all the guns, I'd care less if the 911 was down. Just handle it like it needs to be handled, call 311 because another moron's dead and stinking up the place...
But they banned them, and good people have little to no way to defend themselves...
The Portland Safety Commissioner told the citizens, “You are your own first responder” as the 911 system is under immense strain. This was on X or Twitter.
Guess this gives you the go ahead to carry a gun, taser, pepper spray. What if there is a fire? Do you need to carry a fire extinguisher? Or even a medical kit.
But when you think about it everyone is downsizing. Bet you do the work of the store clerk by using the self check out. Not only the clerk’s job was eliminated but you aren't getting paid to do the work of the clerk. They should give you a discount.
Personally, I wish Chicago would selectively ignore gunshot victims and simply let them bleed out....
Guess that is Portland's way of handling the situation. Don't call us when you overdose and if the grim reaper takes you one less problem Portland has to worry about or waste money on.

I just read an article about some goofballs from Michigan that went to Portland for a vacation. Had their vehicle broken into twice in 4 days and stole a lot of their belongings. Now that's funny.
How much further can that city fall?

Narcan is a waste of $. None of these junkies will ever be rehabilitated and always be a drain on society.
Fun Fact: Portland has legalized ALL NARCOTICS since 2020 {snicker}. It's gotten so bad that the mainstream media and far-left (which applauded Measure 110 initially) are completely ignoring what's going on in that city. There's a resolution to overturn it but Portland is way past the tipping point.
