Is Dart being set up for removal from office?
Recorded conversations show dozens of Cook County Jail inmates schemed to loot the federal Paycheck Protection Program and other government COVID-19 relief programs at the start of the pandemic, according to documents obtained by the Chicago Sun-Times.
Cook County sheriff’s officials opened an investigation in 2020 into inmates using jail phones to discuss various kinds of financial fraud and found they were targeting state coronavirus unemployment insurance programs, federal business relief programs and personal bank accounts.
Many of the inmates talked about raking in tens of thousands of dollars.
Despite months of plotting, though, none of the inmates was arrested or charged with fraud in connection with the schemes, according to Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart’s office, which, in response to a lawsuit filed by the Sun-Times, released hundreds of pages of investigators’ notes about recorded calls in which inmates were suspected of plotting to commit financial crimes.
The Slum times had to actually sue Dart's office to get these records, all of which show a concerted effort by inmates to defraud the PPP program of millions of dollars, all of which was caught on tape recorded telephone lines.
Dart's people claim the feebs wanted the denial of records, but the feebs won't comment on any ongoing investigations....unless it's about conservative church goers, pro-lifers, kidnappers of Michigan governors or Trump. Then they'll leak anything and everything possible. This makes us wonder where portions of the money ended up.
But in the face of feeb denials, is Dart left holding the bag?

The FBI refuses to comment on the investigation. That means that they are not investigating any Republican inmates.

The FBI is too busy chasing down non-violent abortion clinic protesters and parents who don't want their children exposed to hard core gay porn in their elementary school library books.
Nobody wants to admit to the scale of fraud or the stupidity of the various government agencies administering these programs. If they start looking too closely at the Cook County inmates' fraud activities they will probably find links to Cook County Sheriff's employes doing the same thing.
A random DEI could run that place better. Dart also has ghost payrolling federal investigations into his handpicked Covid unit. Directors running up millions overtime while they were on payroll of a private security firm. Brass in charge on monitoring death wave at jail were litterally ghosts.
Anyone who did this, and I don’t care who you are, needs to be prosecuted. Not just paying the money back but prosecuted also. Otherwise what kind of message is it sending? I’m betting there’s high ranking bosses in Chicago that did this too. None of these people were hurting financially during covid. To make up a business just to get free money is a crime.

These investigations fall under the IRS. If you think the FBI is incompetent you haven’t seen anything.
Seems so many crimes aren't investigated by CPD, or by FBI, or by DOJ, or by State Attorney because of perceived predominance of one particular POC racial-group of identifiable perpetrators. Whether it's car-jackings or PPP fraud, same observation.
In regards to PPP fraud, perhaps there are so so many government employees who committed PPP fraud, easily detected by simply reviewing PPP application web records which note nonexistent companies and phantom payrolls. Would be simple to prosecute, easy enough to check prior year IRS returns and data-base of company establishments. Yet there's little law enforcement interest in investigating PPP fraud, much less to charge PPP fraudsters for obvious financial crimes. Likely many of these folks also didn't pay income tax on their PPP incomes.
Disgusting. Yet apparently acceptable conduct by significant number of government officials and by many government employees.
Dart is last white guy standing in Cook County government, other than assessor. Privately, he's always blaming Kim Foxx for lax criminal enforcement due to her reluctance to prosecute crimes.

How many pensions is this guy getting and how many more will he get? When is enough enough? He needs to go back into the gym business oh yeah and all those people that lost money when he closed how did that work out for him just asking.
First of all, Dart is a democrat. So no matter what he did wrong or how bad the evidence against him is, the other democrats will circle the wagons and refuse to believe it to be true. If he is actually forced to be removed from office, he will get his golden parachute and either get promoted elsewhere or get another job with similar or better pay. Do not expect him to ever get charged with anything. This guy never wears a uniform and never carries a gun. He is a lawyer with a title of Sheriff making huge bucks.
Second, notice that NOBODY is being charged with stealing all these PPP loans? They certainly aren't going to pay it back since they are in jail and will cry poor mouth. God forbid they actually get charged and convicted and get another 5 years slapped onto their sentence. So they were caught but aren't being charged and don't have to pay it back. Crime sure pays in this shithole county.
