Interesting Times
We know a bunch of readers don't like or appreciate when we post about national stories. The attitude seems to be, "Who cares, it doesn't affect me personally," which might be correct. But it some cases, you have to look at the bigger picture, especially if you're our target audience, i.e. cops. You are functionaries of the government. One of the smaller cogs in the machine, but part of what keeps it running, inefficient though it may be.
Yesterday was an important day though you may have missed it. It was perhaps the most significant day in the history of what remains of the Republic, and we, as lowly functioning cogs in the government machine, should be looking ahead at what might be requested, required or demanded of us.
- The United States Supreme Court absolutely destroyed the Colorado case against Trump. The harshest and most pointed questioning from the bench came from two of the most liberal justices. If it isn't a 7-2 or 8-1 decision putting Trump back on the ballot, it'd be a surprise.
- Potato's own DOJ Special Prosecutor declared that Potato's improper storage of classified documents might have been a crime, but they won't be referring it for prosecution because he's too old and in cognitive decline to understand the charges against him. There was immediate push back as to his mental capacity and portion of the media are already attempting to bury that part of the report, but it's there in the report.
So there's going to be a battle within the left - keep bad touch grandpa or force him out. This guy is shaking hands with ghosts and (allegedly) still has control of the nuclear codes.
And the final decision is going to take place in Chicago this August. It won't be unanimously popular, so there's going to be blowback.
Then the election itself is going to be a disaster of cheating and fraud.
Then the "certification" is going to be a blizzard of lawsuits up into January.
And then.....
....
You should be thinking long and hard about "then." Because you might still be part of the government "then." Half of the country is going to be hating the government, and the other half is going to expect certain steps to be taken "then."
And you're working in a blue-city blue-state shithole.

No, it’s the fact that I used to use this site as an outlet to get away from the constant flow of mainstream news. This used to be a good outlet for CPD humor, news, and rumors. Even though I really like that guy and I like listening to his stuff it’s just even more reason why sometimes I turn to here for good old-fashioned rumor Mill type stuff. But that has been lost since you really launched. Now it’s just regurgitation of news, conspiracies And sensationalized stuff that I see every day anyways. Your relaunch kind of seems to have jumped the shark. I used to read several times a day and check in when you were back in the day. Now I might check once a week and not give two thoughts about it. Just tell the truth, not knocking you I’m sure this is a very good hobby and interest for you. I’m just giving you a readers perspective since I started reading in the beginning in 2005.

Regarding people not being fans of bigger stuff. Let me say first I agree with a guy who brought that up a while ago and repeat essentially what he said “it’s your blog and it’s your decision what goes into it. And we love the blog”. I can’t stress that enough, I love the blog.
But if I ever feel that way occasionally it’s because the main benefit of coming here is getting cops info and opinions about what’s really going on in Chicago. That’s your, and the real cop commentators, expertise. The other stuff is covered in a million other places. Kind of like when I watch Chicago Tonight Week In Review and they talk about national stories. I watch other shows dedicated to national news so I don’t want their take on it. (I know, I know, they’re liberal, and I’m familiar with all those names in the worst journalists post because they’re on there and I agree with the worst post. Heather Cherone is a prime example of someone I tune out the most, but she does also give real facts sometimes with her opinions. But I’m capable of sifting their knee jerk liberal opinions out)
So it’s kind of difference in expectations. Some come here looking for a specific expertise and focus and others, including SCC, might want it to be more for everything.

Even though, I, like the detractors of national stories, mainly come here for the humor, rumors and insight, I appreciate the broader range of topics. Nothing wrong with diversifying your portfolio, just as long as you never providing the other stuff. Every topic is not going to interest everybody, so the people against national stories can do what I do when I’m not interested in a topic, just move on to the next post !
So SCC, go ahead an experiment all you want with the side dishes, just make sure to keep the meat & potatoes coming !
First of all, SCC, thank you for what you do. Your blog is always well written and it reflects the intelligence of the writer or writers what ever the case may be. You obviously do a lot of research spending a lot of time and then funneling down what you choose to present.
I disagree with those who say you should limit your threads to just the CPD. Sometimes there is not that much going on to write about. With some posters who just keeping beefing and name calling about other LEOs can get boring after a while. I am all for exposing something or someone if you can back it up.
There sure is a lot to write about in this corrupt city it has always been there. There is so much to read and digest and what makes it more interesting is when readers research a topic and come up with even more information.
And yes the national scene is heating up and it will affect the major cities the most as well as their law enforcement communities. We are in some perilous times for sure. We have to keep up with all of it for our own safety and security.
Some have said you can get all of this on the news already so they don’t want to read it on this blog again. Remember when the Chicago newspapers had comment sections. Well they got rid of those didn’t they. They want control over what people say.
I read the two NYC Rants. There format is broken up into subjects where the posters can comment. If the thread or subject
doesn’t interest them they can find another that may.

They send a fixer in to talk with her and explain the realities of the world to her. She might be dumb, but probably (hopefully) not too dumb to take a big money, do-nothing job with some corporation, a think tank (hard to use Harris' name in conjunction with something like this, but I digress), an ambassadorship, a book deal with a BIG advance, or something to get her out of the way.
Or she might simply be told that it's "for the good of the party," and that she might have to take one for the team, like Sanders was after it came out that Hillary bought the nomination. You don't hear dick about that anymore.
Either way, the democratic (communist) party ALWAYS takes care of it's own. Republicans could learn from this.

The food here is great but Chicago has become a Marxist shithole filled with violence since Gory Lori took office and surrendered the city to BLM. Outside of the occasional sports game or concert I get out as fast as I got in as it is not safe anymore. The day I’m able to leave while being paid a city pension will be one of the best days of my life.
