In honor of Career-Rank-Sergeant Deputy Chief Keating commanding a bartender in a licensed Chicago tavern to eject from the premises an off-duty Chicago Police Officer who was enjoying a legally brewed, appropriately taxed beverage (measuring approximately 6% alcohol by volume) we announce the creation of the Keating Pub Crawl.
This event will take place in the 001 and 018 Districts at bars to be determined. We would prefer a Tuesday or Wednesday night as that won't interfere with softball practices. Any and all officers are invited with the following restrictions:

- You must identify yourself as an off-duty cop to Career-Rank-Sergeant Deputy Chief Keating when he conducts a license check on the premises
You will also have a cell phone or exact change for the pay phone. Everyone will be assigned an hourly time and be required to telephone Central Control Group, 001 Desk, 018 Desk or Operations Command and report that you are a Chicago Police Officer drinking in a licensed establishment. You will provide the address to the answering officers and you will provide your name and star number to them if requested.

It is also highly recommended that you have cab fare home, but not required. After all, J-Fed has stated at numerous roll calls that he would rather have officers call him for a ride than have them drive intoxicated. who was running parking at the St. Jude parade. I brought my family down there and my mother was in from out of town. I've never seen it so disorganized. They had cars parked all over the placed and blocked several of us in. I had to wait at least 2 hours after everything was over for the cars blocking me in to move.

Just a little info on him that will not be posted by the person making all the scotchbreath posts...
when he was the tact lt in 22, my old partner, P.C. developed cancer, Lt Scott along with Sgt McMahon took better care of him than most of our mommies took care of us as kids. P.C was embarrassed by all the extra attention and didn't want to cause anyone any problems. Lt and Sgt took it upon themselves to do what was best for P.C. and his family. I will always be grateful to the Lt, Sgt's and other tact officers that stood by P.C. in his time of need.

Its easy to say to quit working. I'd love to be able to do that myself, but, the fact remains that if most of us saw someone shooting a gun, anyone that did any policework at anytime would take action. It becomes instinct after a short period of time on this job. I know that we all say that it's time to stop working, but, it's not that easy. What if the shithead turned the gun on the coppers that drove up on this situation ? Should they leave ? I'll bet that you never chased a person with a gun before or you would not have that attitude. A slowdown in revenue is the way to go at this time. The one bag dope arrests is a good place to slow down. Drinkers are a way to ease up. But, a man with a gun is probably gonna get alot of attention from the workin police. We have to pick our spots and it should start with the cutoff of the revenue stream. Although that won't happen because too many people want their traffic car, early car, late car, foot post...or whatever. They are the goofs, not the guys doing real police work. I have a question???? J-Fed had a press conference where he stated that all police officers are always on duty.
Therefore identifying yourself as an off duty police officer is incorrect, seeing as you are always on duty.
This being said, the city should show you the money. If you are always on duty, you should be paid 24 hours a day, every day of the week. It seems unfair that you are always on duty and not reaping the monetary benefits from it. What goes J-Fed?
Pay our police for all the extra hours they are on duty.
The way I heard it was Keating's mother was a secretary to Old Man Daley and that's how Little Jim became the Police when he was old enough . I'm not sure if he's merit but I think so . He must have a lot of clout because Daley and the Illinois Senators placed his son in Annapolis . You don't get there unless you have CLOUT ! Was filmed about a year year and a half ago....The picked one class that was in full uniform to be the food samplers. I think the PT group was a different class.

You are assuming that the po consented tot he tests...If I remember correctly the officer in 025 testified he gave the tests and never did, along with a couple other necessary things that he never did as he wrote and testified to.
I just sat in my beat car for 8 hours doing nothing but watching gasoline be wasted. Sometimes when my partner and I got bored we revved the engine. Yes, never turned the car off. Its easy to say to quit working. I'd love to be able to do that myself, but, the fact remains that if most of us saw someone shooting a gun, anyone that did any policework at anytime would take action. It becomes instinct after a short period of time on this job. I know that we all say that it's time to stop working, but, it's not that easy. What if the shithead turned the gun on the coppers that drove up on this situation ? Should they leave ? I'll bet that you never chased a person with a gun before or you would not have that attitude. A slowdown in revenue is the way to go at this time. The one bag dope arrests is a good place to slow down. Drinkers are a way to ease up. But, a man with a gun is probably gonna get alot of attention from the workin police. We have to pick our spots and it should start with the cutoff of the revenue stream. Although that won't happen because too many people want their traffic car, early car, late car, foot post...or whatever. They are the goofs, not the guys doing real police work. You are the "STORKE" as you typed it, but, I'm sure you meant stroke and were just to drunk to type it.

To every officer posting here who is bashing a fellow cop who is doing his job to the best of his or her ability - in any manner: You should be ashamed of yourself. You are betraying your allegiance to one another. After all, we (fellow sworn brothers and sisters) are all that many of us have for a support system. We are a family. And like any family, we will have members that we disagree with, dislike, would rather avoid all together, or simply despise - but we would not insult or degrade that family member in a forum for the world to see. In fact, we would probably never do it at all. If we, as we should be, remain willing to lay down our lives to serve and protect this City and its citizenry, should we not at least protect the dignity of our own - the officers who have remained faithful to their sworn obligations?
Individual officers posting on this site who constantly bash one another in this VERY public forum are commiting the worst fraternal breach that can be committed and it needs to stop. It starts when we, individually and collectively, remember where our foremost allegiances remain and should remain - to serve and protect.
Do your job as you have sworn to do - no more and no less - in the manner in which you are most capable. (And often, it is what we each consider "the most capable manner" which is the subject of most disagreements) Remember police work is the greatest and most honorable job known to man. I believe it to be a privilege to have been granted the opportunity to serve as a Chicago Police Officer (despite the current working environment) - regardless of the countless critiques and what the media and those we serve may say or write about us. I remain proud to wear my star each day - because I have the privilege of calling each and everyone of you my family. Make one another proud and despite your "familial" disgreements, respect one another - especially on this website.
