Lawsuit Resolved?

We covered this over 3 years ago.

Word is popping up in the comments that the Plaintiff Officer won against a concerted effort to harass, intimidate and silence him.

Anyone have the verdict? Is it on=line?

If ever there was someone that deserved to be hit with punitive damages, it was that hateful, arrogant prick Zawas.

Randy Zawis takes the hit here. A punk with Captains bars. The sergeants working for Randy are professional suckholes.

Ol' Bronx knows a suckhole when he sees one.

Nice win , Cork.

Brian won his case-- I am sure more lawsuits will start popping up. Many officers have been screwed over and remained silent taking their unwarranted punishments. Now that brian won more officers will come forward about retaliation methods used against them for doing what was right. The more officers start fighting back the more these good old boys running this department into the ground will be exposed and hopefully punished. I for one hope anyone placed in Brian's position files suit against each supervisor and the department. The only way these jag offs will learn is if they are it in the pocket book.

Sgt. KB was a legend as a po in 013 best known for warming a bar stool at Mike's most evenings. They would often send a female po from midnights by KB's apartment to check on her...seems she had a bad habit of leaving the door to her apartment wide open after a drunken night out. As for Sgt. CS, she never spent more than 18 months on the street and has been a house cat ever since...she did excel for a time as Cmdr DB's personal secretary.

The Lawsuit went to a jury trial. The jury returned a verdict for the Plaintiff (Corcoran) and awarded him $134,000. The city hired an outside firm: Jackson-Lewis to defend them. All in all the city will have paid out approximately $1.2MM (Jackson-Lewis, Corcoran, and Ed Fox & Assoc). It's too bad nothing came out of the lying white shirts pockets! When the verdict was read Randy Zawis hung his head in sheer disbelief. I guess he thought people would actually believe his bullshit story?!? He and the cities attorneys thought they had a shot at winning this case - a case based in lies?!?! Their house of cards came crumbling down. Back to California Randy went :( But remember - besides Keating, the rest of these lying P.O.S. are still on the job, nicely tucked in 18! If anyone needs council, Ed Fox & Assoc is who you want. They know the inter-workings of this department. Coincidently they have several cases they're working on as we speak. Just make sure to do your homework! Obviously these white shirts are not that smart. I want to make sure and say there are plenty of good white shirts throughout the city, but the political hacks in 18, not so much!

After 5 years we finally have a verdict...a WIN! The city produced witness after witness that did nothing for the case. One white shirt after another was paraded up to the witness stand from deputy chiefs, commanders, lieutenants down to sergeants. Each one proved to be less than credable. But eight officers told a very similar story...Brian's story. Ultimately the truth was told!

So let me tell you the truth from my experience...my husband came home night after night with another story about how they were looking to screw him. This took a horrible toll on our marriage, so much so that I looked to divorce Brian. On the stand I had to talk about our intimate relationship or lack there of, in court. And the funny thing is all the "kids" in 18 knew about our personal life. Guess what the link is....Randy Zawis...he felt it appropriate to discuss our personal life with 18 district white shirts. And sure enough the "kids" in 18 thought this was a great topic to discuss. That was not the crux of the case, but I can tell you that it was very real and very devastating to us.

Most people knew what was happening to Brian, but there were a handful of "kids" who choose to call him a dog. Is he a dog, absolutely not, but he was entering the last 5 years of his career? YES. For the "kids" who came to 18 without ever working as a real policeman anywhere, had to kiss the white shirts asses, otherwise what would they do. My husband never had to do that because he did his time-7 years working for cook county in the south side projects and then in the 9th district and then to 18 and finally now in 14, which he LOVES, it's a true brotherhood. Everybody including me, knows that 18 is nothing more than a revenue generating district, hence the 5 parkers and a mover everyday.

All in all, it's disgusting that ass kissers still stand with lying white shirts. I guess the true justice in that is they have to lye down with themselves every night. The true mark of a man is one that does the right thing whether it be hard or not. Regardless of what you think of Brian, he had the courage to pave the way for anyone who may be retaliated against!

This officer rightfully won his case for being wrongly and repeatedly punished for standing up for a fellow officer. Case is about Higher ups using intimidation and bullying and putting officers in the "punishment car" to silence them. Well this officer stood up for himself and his fellow officer against these racist comments and WON. Congrats PO Brian Corcoran for standing up for what is right!!

It was nice to hear the Judge school ole Kenny "I think I'm the smartest guy in the room" Angarone. She said "just answer the question, don't go on about matters the attorney did not ask you." It was great to see him put in his place. The day after the verdict was read, KA texted all the white shirts in 18 saying "hold your head high." Good old boy club still hard at work.

I read the entire lawsuit. Very interesting. Not surprising though. I'm glad this copper won the case[if he did] and more should pursue the same course if things rise to anything near the degree of what happened to him. That being said, whoever said life was fair? Minor pissing matches should be dealt with on a lesser level. The most surprising thing that I read in the complaint was that Byrne got caught up in that cluster fuck. Was in the Academy with him and saw him on and off through the years and he was always a good kid. I doubt that the relatively minor rise to Sgt. changed that and would guess that he was really stuck between a rock and a hard place, especially when one considers the vindictive nature of his bosses.

To the the responder from about a week ago. I'm one of those property guys hiding out in the district.

1. we didn't ask to go there, we were thrown out. We made it work despite the cluster fuck.

2. We each get about 200 jobs a year what do you get 40? (Unless you're in GA then you"re screwed.) I know the homicide case stays in your bin forever. It's tough cranking out those no new leads reports

3. VC in area central has almost twice the manpower as PC and you just got 40 new Det's last year, PC got 3. You must be looking at he sheets from two years ago or you're drinking the Kool Aid that your bosses are pouring.

4. Each district has on avg 3 PC Det's per watch. That doesn't even cover the week. I don't get to work with 8 other guys on an investigation.

5. We are responsible at compstat for everything we do. We don't get to use the excuse "the victim won't cooperate" I got bosses who think everything is a pattern regardless of sex, race, age, weapon.

6. UUW's, Gang Debriefings, Agg Batts etc are not property crime related. I would think you guys would be interested in that sort of stuff to help clear your cases. No?

7. I get called out to come to your scenes to help out but I never see a VC guy come out to help with a burglary when we're busy. "Put hold papers on him until tomorrow"

8. Cases were someone gets shot 5-6 times and has his wallet taken after the fact are not robberies. Its an attempted murder. Don't dump it to PC 3 days later, Do your job

Been a Det for 10 plus years. Worked in a couple area and every over site office so I know how things work. Tell me how I'm wrong.

We all know this has been going on way too long especially in the "politically clout" districts especially 18...interesting how there was not 1 report of this case on any media outlet even though it went on for 2 weeks at the federal building! This PO had the courage to stand up to the white shirts from deputy chiefs, commanders (former and present), lieutenants (present) sargeants (present) that squirmed in their seats when they were proven to be covering up and lying in a federal court of law to try and cover for one another...well it didn't work!!! They couldn't keep up with all the lies and their depositions did not match their testimony! All of their names are public record so they are a PROVEN DISGRACE to the department! For those who say there are two sides to the story...both sides had their chance to tell their stories and as always the truth came out! There was nothing better than seeing Corcoran vindicated and Z awis hang his head down in defeat for being the DISGRACE he is!!! All those so called "officers" that still are on the job are no better and their day will come too it always does. It is too bad that they still have a job...for now. It isn't over. The city is going to keep wasting tax payers dollars by paying Jackson-Lewis and their sad excuse for a defense team to drag out a case for 5 years to LOSE!!!!!!!!!!

Corcoran had the integrity they didn't expect and paved the way for all those that are intimated and retaliated against....you can get justice in this city you just have to prove it and have the courage not to "settle" even though it may take years! He deserved the WIN and every penny...take note all!

Thank you for your comments. I thought it was just area north where RBT gets shit on regularly.

In response from the north side:

1. Ditto.

2. Ditto, except area north got rid of PC GA det's a few months back, so now RBT gets those cases too. I get 400-700 cases per year...200 would be nicer! However, there are 9 or 10 VC GA det's! ON DAYS!

3. Ditto.

4. Ditto. One PC det. working days in some districts.

5. Ditto. But I don't blame my sgt's, I blame McHuggyBear.

6. Ditto. The last straw was the narcotics debriefing b.s. VC det's are too important to do them, even though they are supposed to be done to obtain information about murders and shootings. My debriefings consist of this:

(Q): You want to give me any information about any murders or shootings?

(A): No.

Result: Goose eggs in boxes on debriefing sheet.

7. Ditto!!!

8. Ditto. I thought it was only SOP in area north.

***You missed one point though, the Comppost Czars will now be checking LEADS ONLINE to see if serial numbers are being entered and if you are checking it.

Thank you again. You hit the nail on the head on every single point.

Ed Fox & Assoc. is the name of the law firm that convinced the Federal Jury of the wrongs perpetrated on Ofc.Corcoran and soon on Ofc. Campbell in his upcoming trial against the same defendants. There was no punitive damages awarded in the Corcoran case, but there will be in the Campbell case because Campbell is in a "protected class". It just amazes me at what took place on this 2nd watch in 018 over the last 7 yrs. without any consequences until now. Maybe it was because "certain victim ofcs." turned the other cheek, but not Brian & Al. Stay tune, more is coming.

It is a rotten shame and disgrace what these white shirts did. They tried every which way they could to fuck with him and make it look like they were not fucking with him. I sincerely hope BC won.

Way to go BC. Use the money to buy a dunkin donuts in Rosemont so our sargeant doesn't have to travel so far for coffee. LOL

Worked with Brian in 009. Great cop and stand up person. Didn't know that he was getting that fucked over. Glad justice prevailed for you Brian. He always was a worker. Too bad that will get you fucked over by too many bosses with no fucking balls.
