- Fire has rehired 80 Firemen and 30 paramedics starting at 1200hrs on Friday. The members have been told to plan on spending the night in a camp-like situation. Seems as if strike teams are being formed, the plan is in place to combat the combatants.
Also, a military chopper has been spotted over the west and south sides. Anyone have specifics?

Just something to ponder:
A friend of the family did 31 years as a suburban police officer. He said he retired but had connections with CPD and was granted a ride along on the west side of Chicago. He said in that one night, he saw more carnage than he did in 31 years as a suburban cop. He said there were 3 different shootings, someone knifed and cops chasing someone that ended up with a huge accident and he just could not believe that this was a normal day for Chicago west side coppers. That has stuck with me. The stuff these guys and girls see everyday all day long in the ghetto districts is not normal, not even for fellow coppers. It's like being in a war zone everyday and no-one seems to care about you or thank you for your sacrifice. Just want to tip my hat to those that work in the fast districts. I don't know how you do it. Please make sure to take time off when you can to make sure your mind stays right. Love the CPD. There's nobody like you people. You are the best! Remember that people still think you all are tough as nails and look up to you and appreciate you.
Chicago is not like any other city. Business owners will protect their establishments. No one is even protesting look at all the failed protests that only attracted 30 people about.

There is a heliport behind Costco on 14th and Ashland. It’s been taking off and landing from there. I saw it with my own eyes. Costco employees on break were watching in awe as it landed. It was a Blackhawk.

SCC, its true. . The city rehired the 80 Firemen and 30 medics for this weekend, but began cancelling all of the Rehire’s late Thursday night. The trial hadn’t progressed and they thought it would. I expect the Rehire’s the happen again sometime next week, as soon as the defense rests.

Thursday the 27th at 1330 hrs there was a black military type helicopter traveling W/B from the lake over the Kennedy. Traffic slowed to watch because it was so low. Huge camera on the front end. No way it was a news chopper unless they made a new purchase. Big $$$ for such a bird.
Golfed last Monday at Chick Evans in Morton Grove and spotted one flying real low!
Plan for the worst and hope for the best has served me well.
It belongs to DHS-Dept of Homeland Security. They are here to help out for the Marathon.

The military chopper is from the national guard and is getting a radiological baseline for the Marathon. It's done every year.
I saw the chopper last weekend flying low near LSD. Flew right over the Ogden Slip. Seemed to make tight turns at a low level. Was confusing to ssy the least. All black with no markings.
That Blackhawk helicopter is the new 533 🙂

You are correct, but add a small group of opportunistic shitheads that will destroy, burn, and loot, then your dead on. Thier is a large group of law abiding, hardworking people who want thier Police Department and neighborhoods back. I do not believe that will ever happen, the people in power let it get too far gone to just turn it back, but at least a large group now realize what we have been saying all along. That is partially why Rahm is on the run. We will see if it is enough to hold off Preckwinkle.

Agree 100%. I am a retired State Police Investigations Sergeant. I would walk into a District Tact office and request assistance in serving felony arrest warrants. CPD could not do enough for a fellow officer and never failed to help.
There is no police agency I have more respect for than CPD.

Judging from experiences in recent years (I didn’t come on the job until a couple years after the bulls championships), there probably won’t be any riots; however, I would much rather have the city and the department be over prepared than under prepared. If nothing happens, great!
Yes it sucks to have no idea what’s going on, if we’re going to have any days off, or if we’re going to have much (if any) time to spend with our families, but it’s better than the alternative. At least they gave us a heads up so we can make alternate plans for family stuff (picking up kids, etc).
If we’re not prepared and the shit does hit the fan, there are going to be a lot of people scrambling to figure out how they’re going to pick their kids up from school, who’s going to watch them, etc. Because if the shit does hit the fan, we all know they’re not going to let anyone leave and then we’ll all be really screwed.

The stress is clear when you look at the veteran officers. Show me ONE person who came on before they were 25 who looks their age after 20+ years. My god, thos job ages people terribly. Compare that to a suburban officer. My brother was hired by a suburban department and at the swearing in ceremony was a pamphlet of their command staff, age and years OTJ. I’d take any one of them over anyone of equal rank on CPD. Everyone was fit, healthy looking and not wearing the demons of patrolling Chicago’s inner cities.
I'd believe that about the military 'copter. One flew over my house (northeast side), on Wednesday, with guys hanging out on both sides. My neighbors and I were like, "WTF?!?!"
Oh my God! The West Side and the South Side are going to be burned and destroyed, and everyone living there killed! That means 3/4's of the CPD can be laid off, and the rest of the city will see huge property value increases. Wait a minute. What's the problem?

Talked to a neighbor who is a fireman. He said that word “rehire” is their word for OT. Big deal, they are going to have 80 firemen on OT and a few paramedics on overtime. They have firemen on rehire or OT everyday
Over the last eight hours, I have been bombarded with tips and questions regarding a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter buzzing around Chicago with fully kitted commandos hanging out of its doors and deploying on rooftops around the city. Some people were alarmed by what they were seeing and wondered if there was a crisis taking place. Others were thrilled as the special operators fast-roped from the helicopter and took up positions along high rise rooflines. A couple were even wondering if this was another Transformers movie being filmed in the city. I can definitely assure you that is not the case and that there is nothing to worry about. But that doesn't make the spectacle any less interesting.
What Chicagoans have been seeing is a training operation. I talked to the Chicago Police Department about the sightings and they told me that they were given notice that the drills would commence but would not tell me anything else, such as who was training. But it really didn't seem like they knew if it was specifically law enforcement or military. But that's beside the point. It is an exercise and it is not part of any operational mission. I have also reached out to the Illinois Military Department and National Guard for more details, but I have yet to hear back.
Seriously now....Isn’t it time to name something after Rham? A school, a firehouse, a police station. How about the street in front of Obama’s Library? Rham Way.

Rumor is the plan is that when jury has decided, Court will have jury wait three hours before announcing verdict. This is so that OEMC can notify hospitals, CFD, CPD, etc. to prepare/mobilize personnel, board up facilities etc. for public reaction. We all know there will be reaction either way.
So when your sitting in community room and they come in and tell you to get on the buses, you know you have a little under three hours till verdict is announced.

We have a Sgt on days in 019 that cares about CPD’s suicide problem. At least 2-3 times in roll call he tells us that we are a family and suicide is not the answer. He breaks it down that it’s ok for us to hurt because of what we see. He even conducts debriefs after violent crime scenes. We need more of this.

TRUE. They will be used as a Task Force if things start to jump. Off because of the trial. They are scheduling them for every day just in case. But so far they have called to cancel it each day before seeing that the trial isn’t over. As of now it hasn’t cost. Any money as of the cancellations. They even have 60 cots set up so they can spend the night. If and when they are needed, there is a sounthside and west side location picked where they would be dispatched to the “Hot Area” if things get out of hand.
cfd medics will not be armed. on the other hand military medics carry a sidearm. its too cool for a riot. calm down. anyway richard J would know what to do.

If I understand this correctly,the jury has the option of convicting on a lesser charge such as Second Degree Murder,which allows for the consideration that JVD thought his life was in danger at the time of the shooting.This could be as bad as an acquittal and serve as an excuse to loot and act the fool in every way possible. "No justice, no peace" and unfortunately also no jail time for these assholes in Crook County.

This is nothing new. The helicopters are part of what the military calls an MOUNT operation. Mount stands for Military Operation on Urban Terrain. Yes boys and girls they prepare for city skirmishes too. Years ago whilst detailed to Summer Mobile Group. We were assigned to meet up at Calumet park with the Illinois State Police.
When we got there we were met by ISP. Merely told us that they were training in the park that night and needed CPD to shut down and clear the park at closing. We did this with no issues what so ever. When we finished closing the park. We then watched some trades people ISP allowed in to the park. They went to the old Coast guard building that was on the lake front. They began to work on the buildings doors and windows. Working quickly they were soon finished and left the park. ISP returned and told us they were about to begin their training and their units would be coming in from Dupage County airport port. Ohhh by the way. At any time did I mention that the ISP troopers were wearing flight suits? They were! We then began to hear Helicopters. Two small helicopters called little birds. These smaller helicopters had soldiers hanging off the sides of them. The little birds merely touched the ground, at which point the soldiers jumped off the little birds and ran to the outside of the Lighted Coast guard building, surrounded it and began a dynamic entry. The lights of the building which were on in beginning, immediately went off. With the lights being off. You could see the lasers sights and hear the suppressed weapons being used. During all of this the larger Blackhawk gunship just circled in the air overhead providing air support. These soldiers finished inside the Coast guard building and waited outside for the little birds to return. The little birds touched down for a fraction of a second and launched back into the night air. All of this with the gunships still circling like birds of prey providing air support. ISP walked over to us and thanked us for our help. As the troopers got into their cars, they told us we had just gotten a look at Operational Detachment Delta. Here is your answer to all the questions of why the strange helicopters. Urban operations = Urban cammies duh!
