So this All Call message went out to all units tonight, right around 1730 hours:
- A group of about 50 teenagers attacked and battered at least three people Saturday afternoon on a CTA Red Line platform on the Near North Side.
About 7:30 p.m., Xiao Yu Lin, 29, was waiting for a train with her boyfriend, Yue Lei, 28, at the Chicago and State station at 800 North State Street when she noticed a group of teenagers staring at them, Lin said.
The group of teens then walked over and began punching them, Lin said.

Alderman Brian Hopkins (2nd) tweeted at 7:47 p.m. that “Water Tower Place will be closing at 8 p.m. tonight due to mob action by large crowds of juveniles.”
The latest Mag Mile mob scene began around 5 p.m. when a victim reported being battered near the Red Line station at State and Chicago. A man was arrested in connection with that attack.

Had family shopping at Water Tower last night. They said it was out of control with under privileged youth. Water tower security couldn't handle them. I happened to be driving north on Harlem at Cermak at about 5:45 pm when I saw a lot of punks in groups on three of the four corners and squad cars all over the area. Big groups at McDonalds running around out of control and squads speeding around to different areas to assist each other. About 45 minutes later I was returning on Harlem s/b at Cermak, I thought it would have cleared up by then. Boy was I wrong! More punks everywhere and now they where running toward passing vehicles in the roadway and pounding on windshields and yelling at the passengers. I was stuck at the light because these animals weren’t letting cars through the intersection. The crowds of thugs were bigger in all directions and I noticed that plenty more police had arrived and they had a squad stationed at the front of each business on the east side of Cermak. I finally got through but there was no end in sight. It reminded me of the 002nd district in the late 80s when all 4 Ida B Wells buildings emptied out on our tact team during a drug bust.
I saw all those high end gym shoes, smart cell phones and designer logoed outfits on these oppressed at risk youth. All that expensive stuff made in China for American companies.
These companies need to give back to the communities in need. They can start by giving the poor more free stuff. Government assistance and free rent and utilities aint cutting it no more.

The downtown mag mile and loop area were such favorite spots to shop and lunch at in the past for my family. It's disgusting how this city is ruined by groups of youths that think they own the streets and know that they can wreak havoc and will bear NO CONSEQUENCES! They don't get the correct guidance/discipline at home and the city politicians pretty much give them a free pass for BEATING UP PEOPLE ON THE RED LINE?!?! My own children know that if they were to best up their siblings like that, they would get knocked into next week by their parents!
We have told sooo many of our friends and visiting family numerous times, when asked, how awful it is nowadays down there and to not dare go on the red line. So, we all find activities in much nicer suburbs outside of the city to meet at for activities and gatherings. We would much rather drop our dollars and cents to towns that we will have a much less chance of being accosted by groups of mob action teens. Just ranting....
