An Interesting Turn of Events (UPDATE)

So a juvenile assailant gets shot on the Red Line after attacking a security guard.

But it turns out that the "unarmed security guard" was doing what smart people do, and armed himself before patrolling the Red Line, in violation of his company's policy and in violation of the company's contract with the CTA. Then he lied about it. A lot:
  • New details emerged of Thursday morning’s accidental shooting aboard the Red Line near Belmont on Friday afternoon.

Eric Camp, a 38-year-old guard who was working for a CTA security contractor, was shot in the leg and a 16-year-old girl suffered a graze wound after a gun in Camp’s jacket pocket fired during a physical altercation on a southbound train around 4 a.m., police said. Camp and his partner were asking the girl to stop panhandling on the train, according to a CPD report.

Prosecutors charged Camp with felony aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, misdemeanor possession of a firearm, and an unspecified municipal violation.
Turns out the juvenile female has quite the distinguished record:
  • The girl is charged with two felony counts of aggravated battery of a transit employee in connection with Thursday’s incident. Prosecutors also charged her with felony robbery and felony aggravated battery in a public place in connection with an Apr. 2 robbery at the Roosevelt Red Line station.
And now, one of our intrepid commentators has this unpublished bit of news:
  • OT: 16 year old girl causing disturbance on CTA train at 4 in the morning Thursday gets accidentally shot during struggle with security guards. CTA is outraged and demands security company fire the two security guards involved because the CTA is committed to the safety of it’s passengers. Interesting because the 16 year old was with the two people that killed the former Marine on Tuesday by pushing him in front of moving CTA train. She is also wanted for a beating and robbery on the subway.
That tidbit doesn't seem to have hit the media yet. According to the recent charges in the Arlington Heights home invasion, it would seem that this young offender is eligible for her very own Felony Murder case.

UPDATE: An arrest is made:
  • A North Center man was charged Saturday with murder for allegedly pushing a former Marine into the path of a Red Line train in the Loop this week.

Ryan Munn, 18, was arrested at his home on the 2100 block of West Bradley on Friday evening. Police said he was identified as the person who punched and pushed 29-year-old Mamadou Balde from the Jackson station platform around 5:13 p.m. Tuesday.
You can see his mugshot over at the CWB blog. He has quite the number of run-ins with the police, too. He seems to hang out with the wilding crowds/flash mobs that loot Michigan Avenue shops (video at the CWB blog link), but like most of those offenders, Crimesha didn't seem to charge him despite the video evidence.

I heard the detectives were watching the video of the guy getting pushed in front of the train and saw her there too. She was the same wanted person who was on video beating people up and robbing them in the subway. She got arrested for aggravated battery to police the day of the subway murder when she kicked a responding officer at the scene. Restorative Justice For All.

So is the State (city more directly) saving money by hiring unarmed only guards for the CTA? Guess so. Too bad the guard was armed and the state can't manage money. Little details make big impact!

First time in history Illinois has not tossed money out freely. Mark the date!

"Working from surveillance video, police described three suspects who were seen walking southbound on State Street and then westbound on Jackson Boulevard after the man was killed:

a white male with shorter hair who wore a dark gray or black hoodie, black jeans, and black shoes
a black male who wore a greenish t-shirt, black jeans, Timberland boots, and a black do-rag
a white female wearing a Champion-brand t-shirt"

Well, I can't wait to see comments from the LEOs on board here.

For a couple of years now I've related how sticking unarmed prey into unpatrolled mass transit trains and buses has much in common with a canned hunt, it's the same thing.

Sometimes the predators wait for the cage doors to open, gotcha!
Sometimes they ride along in the long cages, picking prey as they go.

Unilateral disarmament, it always works out well for one side, that's why they call it unilateral!

But boo on the contractor for either playing with the gun in his pocket or having the gun in an unsafe condition.

And boo on the city for not having sworn LEOs in place, both for this ride along with the prey, and all along as this situation turned into a canned hunt in the first place.

That security guard only doing his job, now has to defend himself from idiots of Corrupt Cook County and the government subsidized failing CTA. I’m surprised he was even charged...for what, scared shitless and lying?

Makes a good case for the US DOJ to look into the practices of the entire CookCo prosecutorial and judiciary. Obviously something is askew. Restorative justice is what they claim to be applying, but wasn’t suppose to be to automatically release repeat violent assailants or persons, including those of colour just because they say so.

At this long lost stage of the absence of juvenile justice (ever since Prickwrinkle took over CookCo), I’d be satisfied if that 16 yr old violent repeat assailant feral yoot gets a $1000 Lari LightLoafer Must Comply StayAtHome citation. Maybe another one for her legal guardian too.
Seeing $2000 in revenue come into the city coffers (during these challenging times) would be nice.

Nasty worthless FakeNews.
CTA is another waste for their open checkbook of settlements.
They are not interested in crime prevention, just spending Federal grant money to say they are.

Security Guards need to jump through all the hoops to obtain and be able to legally carry guns. If they do not want to legally carry guns then they need a regular job where their lives are not threatened, as well as the lives of the people they are supposed to be guarding. The CTA needs to help people applying for security guard jobs get their concealed carry licenses. What are CTA guards supposed to do if someone pulls a gun or knife on the CTA? An answer needs to be demanded from the CTA on this. People want to apply for jobs, not apply to be an unarmed shooting target. The two guards that were fired need to be given their jobs back and assistance to obtain concealed carry licenses. They undoubtedly have saved the lives of other people confronting that woman on the CTA and they should receive any and all help they need to clear their names and work as security guards---if they even want the jobs!!!

Although the Security Guard is NOT CPD, please refresh my memory: Does not Department Approved Handguns and Ammunition specifically forbid pistols/ revolvers in garment pockets.
Another question: Assuming the ( unidentified) pistol/revolver is drop safe ( a debatable assumption if a low quality piece or a piece that underwent home gunsmithing), whose finger was on the trigger? Was the Security Guard deliberately trying to fire through his own pocket, in the cinematic manner of Shaft ( “Who’s the cat who won’t cop out when there’s danger all about?/// SHAFT!!!///Right on!’”), Theo Kojak, or Andy Sipowicz? Or, was the alleged wrong- doer trying to pull it out of the Security Guard’s pocket when “ it just went off”?
Like former Superintendent Johnson, “ I have more questions than answers.”.

And a Big Chicago shout out to:
Charlie "Mack LEO" Beck
aka "Nine-One-One" Charlie Beck
aka Charlie "The Post Office Pest" Beck
As for that last 'aka' folks, let me kindly explain.
As a raging hormone teenager, Beck had but two eccentric
obsessions:
Motorcycles and FBI Top 10 Wanted Posters
"And when can I have them?" he would prod and pester the
local Postmaster. "When they all get caught" came back one
exasperated reply, hoping the troubled youth would soon find
a girlfriend. But Beck was a persistent, troubled youth.
Although he had fatherly police connections, it was the Post
Office he was obsessed with and those ultra-official posters
up on the cork bulletin board. He just had to have them. He
even went as far as planning a broad daylight heist with the
help of his buddies. Let's see, it went something like this.
A younger friend would ask Elmer to check in the back if he
had a package for his (fake name) parents. Then Charlie,
ever the acrobat, would overturn the green steel garbage can,
climb up on the service counter, and reach the forbidden FBI
treasure. Alas, that plan was ditched when he overheard a
family friend relay a maxim about robbery targets. Far better
to hold up a country store than a Post Office, because the
Post Office was part of the Federal Prison System, and they
had plans for wayward youth like Charles. Finally Beck just
relented and politely asked Elmer if he could order some
extra copies, and sure enough, next month Charlie had the
prized lists in his possession.
To be continued....................

She’s white, so there goes that theory. You know the expression- don’t assume, lest you make an ass of u and me. There is such a thing as white hood rats, ya know. I’m white and I can attest to that. No difference the color. A hood rat is a hood rat.

Well then. they can be free to throw both of these miscreants under the bus for social justices sake. Ass of you and me, such a poet.

most of the new pistolas and wheel guns ive seen have that trigger safety that blocks the hammer from contacting the primer. could be an old gun or somebody didnt have trigger discipline. too bad the graze wound wasnt to the center of her melon. ive lost faith in rehabilitation, and predators like her will just keep funnin till somebody puts her down. usually one of her posse. as the stomach turns.........

As a daily CTA rider who depends on the cta to get to work and who cannot carry, we honest taxpaying citizens need more good guys stand up to bad guys (gals) on the Red Line, Blue Line, Orange Line, Brown Line, Pink Line, Green Line and Yellow Line and on the CTA buses too.

Where is Paul Kersey and Bernard Goetz when you need them?

OT. Why no extension for the IROCC cards for retired officer concealed carry but extensions for CCL and FOID cards for 90 days past expiration. Range qualifications required for CCL on hold but no hold or extensions of qualifications for IROCC.

4/12/2020 07:40:00 PM

As it was explained on the IROCC website, Leosa is a federal law... The federal law has not been extended.....
Look into, H.R.1156 - LEOSA Reform Act was introduced in 2019 and not one Democrat house member endorses it. Only 35 Republicans.

Good day for her. Bet she is now in line for a big payday since he was carrying an illegal gun.. why would anyone take a security job on the CTA with out a legal gun permit. Suicide by Red Line.

4/12/2020 05:14:00 AM

The question should be "Why would anyone ride on the CTA without a gun???'

Said it once and I'll say it again, no carry on the CTA is incredibly ironic. Negligent discharge just seems like the guard trying to save his bacon. Should sue the city and employer for dangerous work environment.

To properly shoot through your own pocket, one needs either a Smith & Wesson Centennial/ Model 40 or a Colt Detective Special ( with a hammer shroud). How many under 40 y/o CPD even now the weapons I am talking about?

Remember the old saying partner. "Pockets are cheaper then belly buttons" Always carried my old, made in 1960 COLT AGENT with a HAMMER SHROUD. Bought it at Shores, when they had auctions. $100.00, I should of bought the pair they had. Made of alloy and only barrel and cylinder is steel. The Colt hammer shroud cracked when I dropped it out of ankle holster. Looked for a replacement shroud. 6 years ago a dealer wanted $200.00 !! Fuck it, cylinder needs reblued, it still shoots like new. Pulled pin 10 years ago. Bought a new ruger snob, 357, nice pistol. Only gun I bought since retired. Got a few gats lying around !!!!
You kids carry a snub in coat pocket if you still wear a CPD coat n uniform. 99.0000 % was out of uniform and a dick. Never bought a piece of uniform after academy.
I used to say carry two to the young guys, now carry three. Got in shootings with 45'- 1911 and weapons they said no more. Know one gave two shits in old days.
Bless you kids and please listen to SCC on his advice.

As always, great reporting SCC. I spoke to a Digby CTA security officer and they told me that not only are they forbidden to be armed. They also are forbidden to use or carry handcuffs. CTA says "it looks too INTIMIDATING."

Same one I carried for a lot of years in my jacket pocket as a second and off duty. Still carry it in retirement around the neighborhood. Bought it from a retired Sgt. for $125. You can carry a snub without a shroud in a jacket pocket. Just when you draw, cover the hammer with your thumb, it'll never hook up on clothing. Got in one shooting with it. Be careful out there boys and girls. Remember, even though that striker fired duty gun you carry has 13-19 rounds in it, ALWAYS carry a second. Stressed this to my son. He's one of the few in his suburb PD that does. Never know when that first one may malfunction or get taken away from you. At least you'll have a "Get off me gun." Better to have it and never need it, than need it and not have it.

Quit complaining about no extensions for IROCC. Im retired and give zero fucks about that. I will carry and continue to carry. The least of my worries if I blast some shitbird is my IROCC card. Ill explain that when or if the times comes and IF I stick around to explain why shitbird was given a dirt nap.

Mine expired last year and I couldn't get in to qualify for 6 months. I didn't give 1 shit. Good thing its only once a year otherwise I probably wouldn't even bother qualifying.

Its all a bs show anyway. No department will stand behind any retired guy in a shooting. Hell, these mfers wont do that now when your on duty or off duty. Fuck em.

WRONG ANSWER......Where is the Mayor and City to provide a safe transit system and properly fund a transit Police Force to ensure that happens

They have small, hammerless revolvers now. No shroud needed. Ruger and Smith & Wesson make them. They are lighter than an auto, small, but 5 shots. You can get the Ruger with a built-in laser.

Rock Island Armory M206, $200 on sale, 6 shot .38 spl. Nothing fancy but shoots good. My throw away gun. And revolvers don't leave shell casings.
Good for the house and wife, point and pull. There's plenty of good low recoil personal defense ammo. Worried about safety? Load 5 with an empty chamber on the first trigger pull

Somebody carrying a gun cocked and locked with no safety is a threat to everybody.
I seen a ton of these security guards and rent-a-cops carrying guns when they have no authorization, training or the common sense to do so. While I totally support the 2nd amendment and people having /carrying guns even without any license . I am fully against untrained and/or idiots carrying guns.

Glad the girl got "jammed" up , as to this security guard, nothing against him for carrying a weapon , except that from the looks of things he was negligent doing so.

The airweight SW 38 MSP's are nice. But that is still a fairly big "pocket piece".
In that same light , you could go 380 Colt Mustang or the old PPK. A Lot of safety there.

Hey HQ- Can we get a breakdown of the districts with the most COVID confirmations ??
Inquiring minds want to know .
Why isn’t this news ? Or at least told to those officers in those districts ?
And why are the house mouses at HQ sitting on those asses on watches and day off groups ?
Some districts could use the manpower !!
So tired of getting the daily “this many” emails - tell us exactly where !!!

4/12/2020 02:28:00 PM

Go on the website of Illinois Department of Public Health. The confirmed cases and deaths are listed by zip code

632 S&W Airweight, hammer-less 5 shot revolver. You can fit it in many pockets without it even being noticeable. It's got a heavy trigger pull and you won't be able to hit the broadside of a barn with it, but in a situation like this where someone is wrestling you next to 750 volt train tracks, it'll work to blow the shithead's brains all over the tracks. Better to have a shithead's brains on live electric train tracks than you.

When firing . 38 Special ( plus P ( cannot find “ plus sign” on this device)), an all- steel revolver is much preferred. If you are going “Old School” with a revolver, might as well go “ Completely Old School” with an all- steel piece, instead of all these fancy, high- tech, modern aluminum alloys, etc.
