Illinois avoided a "significant surge" following the Thanksgiving holiday, the state's top doctor said Friday.
"I am really excited, I am really happy to say that we did not see the significant surge that we were very much concerned about in relation to all the reports that we saw of the large amount of travel for here in the state of Illinois," Illinois Department of Public Health Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike said. "I think people know that in the Midwest, generally, while others on the coasts are surging, I think we had that a little bit earlier and are on the way down and I think all the mitigations that we had in place in advance of Thanksgiving have been helpful. So no, we did not see a surge following Thanksgiving."

The CDC and the IDPH both have guideline that say only ten immediate family members can attend a wake or a funeral, but these rules were not followed by the CFD. Over fifty non family members were at the church service.
Thousands of people have died from a variety of causes over the past ten months and most of the families have followed the rules, had a small wake, and no funeral mass. This was an incredible hardship for them at a very difficult time. But they followed the rules. These Fire Inspectors are going around on the weekends closing down bars and restaurants that don't follow the health protocols and handing out ten thousand dollar fines. Ending people's ability to earn a living. But, the CFD bosses seem to believe they can disregard the health protocols whenever they want.

We just had a nice fish fry dinner in Wisconsin in a nice diner in a small town. No masks but the usually fabulous fish fry buffet has been suspended, that was Friday. Yesterday shopping to restock the adult beverage cabinet so we stopped for a couple of beers in a cozy local bar where we met several acquaintances and had a nice afternoon. The local bar visit was in small town Illinois where the local village mayor has allowed businesses to be open and the local PD is not interfering. Guess what? I'm retired and away from Chicago and its messed up agenda. Life is OK in rural Illinois.

I live in the far south suburbs. Some places were restricted, by their owners in good faith who wanted to do the right thing in case it might be serious, early on. Everything stayed open or opened up pretty quick and the flu was forgotten until the last few weeks. Colds and flu are out there, I have a cold right now but it's just about gone. I don't believe in vaccinations that tell you up front that they are probably only 30 or 40 percent effective. I've got a shotgun and a shovel for any well meaning asshole that comes looking for me with a needle in hand.
This whole Plandemic is going to come to an end. States are now asking for audits and these lockdowns are for a reason other than our safety. Many people are very unhappy, lost jobs, businesses and such in California. The kids are depressed due to not seeing their pals and probably we will see an increase in suicides this year because of the commie virus. Lots of stress and it seems there are more murder/suicides, but haven't seen stats on that yet. Life sucks there for many people now. Because it's warm in California doesn't mean life is good for everyone. Surely you realize that.
What I meant was that even there they aren't over doing it with the regs due to Covid. He was at the gym and the family went to the indoor swimming pool place. You see people with and without masks at the mall and the stores. The dictators in California and other places want Christmas cancelled. The dems want total control and another lock down if they have their way. Same way in the UK, rules and more rules. And personally, I mentioned it because he has a nice little family and my wife passed away and I'm very lonely. And that hasn't gotten any better. So that was one of the main reasons I said what I did. He's happy with his life and that's due to his wife and baby. The holidays aren't a happy time for everybody, sport. Whether you live in someplace sunny and warm or not. Because I mentioned Russia you lose your cool completely. But maybe I should have explained it better.
